For Sale: 1954 Chevrolet 3100 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1954 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 Ton Pickup

"Old pickup trucks don't merely recall a simpler America. They are America. These basic, rugged, reliable vehicles have a remarkably widespread appeal. We found old pickup trucks owned by farmers, lawyers, doctors, innkeepers, actors, plumbers, and musicians. This truck of theirs is the most beautiful thing they have ever laid eyes on." From Pickups, 1996

For consignment, a 1954 Chevrolet 3100 Series pickup showing 1,145 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. This truck was subject to a frame off restoration in 2011 and also has a rebuilt motor.

Exterior
If your favorite toy truck as a kid was bright red, well, here's your life size dream come true. This one presents in vibrant two stage Romany Red, appropriate for a former cherry hauler from Montana! The contrast of the black and chrome of the 16-inch tires and wheels is ideal, each hubcap with the Chevrolet bowtie, including the side mounted spare for an ultimately classic presentation. More chrome is found on the beefy grille and curved bumper while the bowtie in blue presents on the nose. This truck has side mirrors on both sides for more metallic bling, door handles that shine bright, and a robust steel step on the black running boards. Beautiful oak planks alternate with stainless rails in the bed and the stamped tailgate proudly paints Chevrolet white. Imperfections are few and include some pitting on the hood ornament, a few chips, a drip stain on the door, and some clear runs.

Interior
Brown vinyl door cards hold the hardware over ivory painted stamped steel and each door presents cleanly. A Saddle brown bench welcomes three occupants and is in fantastic condition and the driver is afforded a near perfect black steering wheel ahead of the ivory painted dash with two simple gauges that provide six bits of information. A floor mounted shifter rises high to greet the driver and is based in the rubberized covering on the clean floor with ivory sidewalls. A brown vinyl headliner meets a painted ivory rear wall for a cozy enclosure.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a show worthy rebuilt 235.5 inline six cylinder with a 1-barrel carburetor and 4-speed manual transmission that routes power to 3.54 gears in back.

Undercarriage
It's more driver quality underneath with surface rust, corrosion and some residual oil about, but solid, simple construction remains. Drum brakes are on all four wheels and leaf springs occupy the front and back. A single exhaust runs through a stock style muffler and is fully intact.

Drive-Ability
She drives like a classic truck; solid, sturdy, and surefooted. Plenty of power underfoot and a smooth ride provided by the LT rated 85 series tires. We note the heater blower is not working and the gas gauge works intermittently. Beyond that, all functions work as they should and you'll find this one in one of our two truck rooms! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

This Western farm truck is currently an eastern show truck and depending on where it ends up, will grace that state with a vehicle that's sweeter than a maraschino cherry and brighter than one too! This is a fine example of a classic American truck that presents cleanly and is ready to be harvested from our crop of cars!
