2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS 4x2 Short Bed Pickup
"Substantial and strong, Silverado is there from sunup to sundown.
Whether taking on mud rutted back roads or steep mountain grades,
towing a boat or hauling stacks of drywall, this is one full size
pickup that charges ahead. While brawn doesn't take a break, that
doesn't mean it never kicks back. Step inside the Silverado cab and
you'll experience a den of comfort within a hard nosed exterior."
Excerpted from the 36 page 2012 Silverado sale brochure.
For consignment, a 2012 Silverado 1500 LS 4x2 short bed showing
12,950 actual title verified miles. According to our consignor,
this is a garage kept example that's never seen winter weather.
Let's take a look!
Exterior
This one might get lost in a snow storm as it's covered with near
perfection by Olympic White paint, but it's likely that tallchrome
grille will rise above the accumulating snow and the black tonneau
on the bed can be viewed in depths less than four feet! You've got
a tow hitch and step up bumper in back, a solid rear window that's
tinted, and bug guards along the side windows. Entering this high
truck is assisted by the aluminum side steps and 17-inch chrome
wheels reside in big openings with plenty of extra space for the 70
series tires. Along the waistline, you'll find a pinstripe that's
capped with the Silverado name at the back. It's all incredibly
clean with just a scuff on the right rear corner serving as the
lone imperfection.
Interior
Let's start in the bed where a fitted rubber mat covers the entire
floor, the white walls are clean, and the tailgate is protected by
a textured plastic panel. Two tone gray plastic formed door panels
line the inner doors and along with the usual switchgear, provide
plenty of storage and integrated cupholders and they're both in
great shape. Two tone is also used on the cloth bucket seats which
are fully intact, fronting a standard control center that starts
with a four spoke steering wheel and its thumb controls. Up ahead,
a basic gauge cluster and in the center console, a fully integrated
AM/FM radio and A/C knob panel. With the shifter on the column,
that leaves the floor open and clean and adorned with a full rubber
covering and gray weather mats. The formed headliner is also gray
and clean and houses an overhead console.
Drivetrain
Opening the hood, we're not doubting the mileage displayed on the
odometer as it presents as near showroom condition. This is a 4.3
liter LU3 V6, fuel injected and putting out 195 horsepower. It's
mated to GM's venerable 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission that
sends power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.23 gears.
Undercarriage
And once again, the condition supports the mileage as even wax
pencil marks from the assembly plant are still visible. Other than
a surface rust colored driveshaft and some other minor spots of
surface rust, the underside is fresh and clean. Here we find a
single exhaust through the original equipment muffler and power
brakes on all four wheels, disc in front and drums in back.
Suspension includes coil springs up ahead and leaf springs in
back.
Drive-Ability
This clean and simple truck does everything well, from start up to
shut down, it provides a smooth ride with plenty of power, a
comfortable cabin, and a great, bird's eye view of the road. Not
unexpectedly, all functions on this pickup work as intended. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
This truck represents the plain Jane side of things; no extra bells
and whistles to get in the way. Essentially, a capable fleet truck
that can get the job done, whether that's a quick run to the
convenience store, or hauling parts for your hot rod or race
project. Keeping it simple is a refreshing take on
transportation!
