1966 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe - Matching-Numbers 327/300, Milano
Maroon
The 1966 Sting Ray coupe is one of the most balanced cars in the
Corvette catalog. The C2 body had been refined for four years by
this point, the egg-crate grille and clean fender vents give it a
purposeful look, and the coupe roofline remains the most
collectible profile of the generation after the split-window.
Finished in Milano Maroon, it is also one of the best color choices
Chevrolet offered that year - deep, warm, and considerably less
common than the reds and blues that dominate the market.
This car carries its matching-numbers 327 cubic-inch V8 rated at
300 horsepower, backed by a four-speed manual. That combination is
the sweet spot for a lot of experienced Corvette people. The
300-horse 327 runs on pump gas, idles civilly, pulls strongly, and
asks for none of the maintenance attention a solid-lifter engine
demands. It is the version of this car you can actually drive, and
the numbers-matching status is what protects the value long
term.
57,000 original miles across sixty years works out to modest,
careful use. Just as important, the body is straight and no-hit - a
claim that carries real weight on a fiberglass car, where poor
repair work is common and rarely invisible under a bright light. It
has been refinished in the original Milano Maroon in two-stage
paint.
The equipment list reads exactly the way a well-optioned '66
should. Knock-off wheels are the single most desirable wheel
Chevrolet offered on a C2, and they are wrapped here in gold line
radials. Side exhaust gives the car both its stance and its voice.
Inside, the teak steering wheel is one of the great period details,
and an AM/FM radio rounds out the cabin.
The last line matters as much as any of the rest: this Corvette has
been owned by an ASE-certified mechanic. Cars kept by people who
understand them tend to arrive sorted, with deferred maintenance
addressed rather than postponed. That is not something a listing
can quantify, but it shows up immediately in how a car drives.
Available now in our climate-controlled indoor showroom. Full
inspection welcome, with our in-house service department on
