Some Corvettes get driven hard and abused. This one clearly wasn't.
With just 23,242 actual miles showing, this 1989 Corvette has
averaged well under a thousand miles a year since it left the
assembly line - the kind of preservation that separates a genuinely
well-kept C4 from one that simply looks the part from ten feet
away.
Under the clamshell hood sits the 5.7L V8 with tuned-port
injection, the engine that defined the late C4 era. Rated in the
neighborhood of 240 horsepower and backed by a strong torque curve,
the L98 was never about peaky, high-revving drama. It pulls hard
from just off idle, which is exactly what makes these cars so
satisfying on a two-lane road or an interstate on-ramp. Power
routes through a four-speed automatic with overdrive, a combination
that makes this Corvette genuinely easy to live with - smooth
around town, relaxed and quiet at highway cruise.
The equipment list reflects a car that was ordered to be enjoyed
rather than stripped down. Power seats let both driver and
passenger dial in a comfortable position. The Delco-Bose stereo
system remains one of the more interesting factory audio setups of
the period, with dedicated amplification developed specifically for
the Corvette's cabin acoustics. Electronic air conditioning handles
Florida summers with digital climate control rather than the
sliders and cables of an earlier generation.
1989 was a significant year in C4 history. It marked the final
season before the 1990 interior redesign and offered several unique
updates. The result was a Corvette with the fully sorted chassis
and driveline of the later cars paired with the original,
purposeful C4 cockpit - digital instrumentation, wraparound
console, and all.
Low-mileage C4s in this condition are steadily thinning out. Most
were driven, modified, or neglected somewhere along the way. This
one presents as a car that was simply appreciated and stored
properly, which is increasingly the harder thing to find.
Available now in our climate-controlled indoor showroom. Full
inspection welcome, and our in-house service department is on site
for any questions.
