1964 Mercury Comet Tribute lightweight drag car. The originals were
produced by Dearborn Steel Tubing, with only around 21 or 22 made.
This tribute car faithfully recreates the iconic features of the
original AFX (Factory Experimental) Comet drag racers, including
the fiberglass lightweight hood and bumper, roll cage, and a
powerful 427 cubic inch side oiler V8 engine with dual 4bbl carbs,
paired with a top-loader four-speed manual transmission. The car
produces just under 600 horsepower at the rear wheels, delivering
impressive performance while maintaining an authentic
period-correct look. It pays homage to the drag racing heritage
with authentic decals, engine cold air inlets coming from the
bright headlight bulb bezel, dual four-barrel Holley carburetors,
and a stripped-down, race-ready interior with racing harnesses and
modernized gauges. The battery has been relocated to the truck with
a drag style on/off switch. Riding on white steel wheels with dog
dish hubcaps and radial tires. This tribute offers an affordable
alternative to the extremely rare and highly valuable original
cars, perfect for drag racing enthusiasts and collectors alike. The
speedo runs fast. On the road, an authentic vintage drag car feel
and sound, catching lots of peoples attention, easy to drive, with
plenty of power and incredible throttle response.
