INTRODUCTION: This Chevelle checks all the boxes: a 496 stroker big
block, 5-speed manual, air conditioning, and a fresh frame-off
restoration with less than 25 miles since completion. It's going to
draw a crowd and earn compliments wherever it goes, yet it's not so
over restored that you'll be afraid to get behind the wheel. This
is a muscle car that begs to be driven and enjoyed.
EXTERIOR: This Chevelle makes a stunning first impression. The body
is clean, and free of rust or damage, topped with the iconic SS
domed hood. It's finished in beautiful LeMans Blue using PPG
basecoat/clearcoat, polished to a gloss finish. The fresh vinyl top
and correct SS side stripes perfectly complement the paint. All of
the chrome, stainless trim, and weatherstrips have been restored or
replaced. Even the glass has all been replaced and has a light
smoke tint. It rides on a modern 17-inch billet interpretation of
the SS wheels, wrapped in performance tires that enhance both the
stance and driving experience while maintaining the classic muscle
car look.
INTERIOR: It was essentially gutted and restored from scratch. It
features an American Autowire wiring harness with a modern fuse
panel, all new reproduction door panels and armrests, and
recushioned and reupholstered seats. A new center console houses
the upgraded 5-speed shifter with a billet handle. The floor is
covered in fresh carpet with embroidered mats and a complete set of
GM reproduction seat belts. The dash has been restored with a new
dash pad, instrument panel, knobs, and vents, then upgraded with a
beautiful set of Dakota Digital VHX gauges. A tilt column with a
genuine rosewood steering wheel, retro-style stereo, Nu-Relics
power windows, new headliner and visors, and working dome lights
complete this clean, fresh, and functional interior.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: At the heart of this Chevelle is a big block
454 that's been bored and stroked to 496, producing a healthy 500
horsepower! Built with Mahle pistons, a Comp cam, aluminum heads,
an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, MSD ignition, and coated
headers. The engine is beautifully dressed with chrome accessories,
including a mini A/C compressor, modern alternator, billet
brackets, and a serpentine pulley system. It also features power
steering with a remote reservoir, power brakes, and an Optima
battery with spring-clamp cables. It runs cool with a Cold Case
aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. The presentation is
exceptionally clean, with neatly routed hoses and wiring, fresh
painted metal surfaces, a new wiper motor, functional washer
squirters, and premium billet hood hinges that complete the
detailed, show quality engine compartment.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and inside the jamb are
painted as slick as the exterior, complete with new weatherstrips
and reproduction decals. Open it up and you'll find a clean, fully
boxed and carpeted trunk compartment.
UNDERSIDE: This Chevelle received a body off restoration- the
chassis has been completely rebuilt, restored, and detailed, with
excellent floors finished in black and a clean, freshly painted
frame. It features front coilover adjustable gas shocks, front and
rear sway bars, boxed rear control arms, and Bilstein gas shocks in
back. The steering and suspension have been completely rebuilt.
Stopping power comes from a Wilwood brake system with drilled and
slotted disc brakes at all four wheels, along with all new lines,
hoses, and emergency brake cables. The fuel system has been
replaced, including the tank and a Holley electric fuel pump. A
custom stainless steel exhaust with a crossover pipe, Holley
electric cutouts, Flowmaster mufflers, and correct SS cowbell tips
gives it an aggressive sound. Looking up at the drivetrain, you'll
find an extra capacity oil pan, a PowerMaster high-torque starter,
and a Tremec TKX 5-speed transmission. A Denny's driveshaft
delivers the power to a 12-bolt 3.73 posi rear end with a chrome
cover. This undercarriage is exceptionally clean, detailed, and
upgraded where it counts.
