Offered for sale with No Reserve is this highly desirable 1980
Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia camper, a rust-free California example
that has been carefully maintained and thoughtfully upgraded
throughout its ownership. Purchased by the current owner in 2007,
this classic Westfalia has benefited from significant mechanical
and cosmetic improvements while retaining the features that have
made these factory campers favorites among Volkswagen enthusiasts
and outdoor adventurers alike. Shortly after purchase, the original
air-cooled engine was removed, disassembled, and refreshed. The
engine received new seals and gaskets throughout, along with new
pistons, resurfaced cylinder heads, and new valve guides to provide
dependable performance. Additional mechanical improvements include
the installation of a Pertronix electronic ignition system in 2019,
a new battery in 2023, and a new clutch slave cylinder in 2024. The
exterior underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2013, including a
full glass-out repaint. At that time, all window seals and pop-top
seals were replaced, along with exterior lenses, mirrors, and
utility hookups. A reproduction factory decal set was installed to
complete the period-correct appearance, while new bumper ends,
bumper inserts, and mud flaps further enhanced the presentation. As
a lifelong California vehicle, the body remains notably free of
rust. Inside, the Westfalia presents as an inviting camper with
several tasteful updates. New curtains and floor mats freshen the
interior, while both the front and rear tables have been replaced
for everyday use; the original tables are included with the sale. A
dedicated 12-volt auxiliary battery powers the galley light above
the stove and the sink water pump, improving functionality while
camping. Included with the camper is an impressive collection of
camping accessories that greatly expands its versatility. These
include a rear hatch screen, front windshield privacy curtain,
magnetic front door screens, a screened sliding door with zipper
and curtain, an awning skirt, and an "Add-A-Room" enclosure,
allowing for expanded living space at the campsite. The camper does
have a few known items worth noting. The stove has never been
tested by the current owner, the refrigerator is currently
inoperative and has never been diagnosed, and the fresh-water level
sensor is not functioning. The odometer currently shows 108,000
miles; however, it operated intermittently when purchased before
being repaired, therefore the mileage should be considered TMU
(Total Mileage Unknown). The owner also notes a slight battery
draw, and a manual battery disconnect has been installed as a
practical solution. Introduced for the 1980 model year, the
Volkswagen Vanagon represented the next evolution of Volkswagen's
iconic camper, offering increased interior space, improved comfort,
and the legendary versatility that made Westfalia conversions
famous worldwide. Today, early air-cooled Westfalias continue to
enjoy strong collector interest thanks to their practicality,
distinctive styling, and enduring appeal. Whether destined for
weekend camping trips, vintage Volkswagen gatherings, or addition
to a growing collection, this rust-free Westfalia offers an
excellent opportunity to acquire a well-maintained and extensively
improved example complete with numerous camping accessories and
thoughtful upgrades. PAPERWORK Title Status: Title Mileage:
