With dual-clutch Porsche PDK transmissions sweeping through their
top-tier lineup, Porsche announced that the GT3 and GT3 RS would no
longer be offered with a manual transmission. An uproar ensued
throughout the Porsche driving community, voicing that by removing
the manual option they were removing one of the best and most
engaging features when driving a Porsche. To quell the flames,
Porsche announced a car to celebrate an anniversary fifty years in
the making, the 2016 Porsche 911R.
Limited to just 991 examples produced for the world, the new
Porsche 911R was created to honor the anniversary of the legendary
1967 Porsche 911R. Drawing inspiration from a mythical model built
50 years prior, these new 911's carry many of the same principles
and design characteristics that made the original R so formidable.
High power, low weight, razor sharp handling, all tightly wound
into one cohesive package. Available initially only to Porsche 918
owners, the 911R's sold out immediately, and would become a
lust-worthy 911 variant that is both a highly prized collectible,
and Porsche driving enthusiasts holy grail.
This 2016 Porsche 911 R was produced on September 15th, 2016 and
was spec'd in White with a black leather interior with stitching in
GT Silver. $17,865 were added in factory options, which can be seen
above. One option set that is particularly rare, and has found
extreme desirability over the last few years, are the 18-way
Adaptive Sports Seats with Memory package. Exceptionally
comfortable and much easier to live with on a day-to-day basis than
carbon bucket seats, the Adaptive Sports Seats in black leather is
the cherry on top for this car. 911 Rs came heavily equipped with
standard equipment, including options such as Porsche Carbon
Ceramic Brakes (PCCB), a limited slip differential with Porsche
Torque Vectoring, and rear axle steering. The total MSRP for this
2016 Porsche 911R was $205,115.
The 1st owner of this 911 R kept the car in Southern California,
driving it sparingly and had it serviced at Grand Prix Performance
and Porsche Newport Beach. By March of 2019 the 911 R had just
1,034 miles on the odometer. The 2nd owner purchased the car in
2021 who also drove the car sparingly. It was evident that both
caretakers took exceptional care of the car, as it presents in new
condition. Included with the 911 R are its books, tools, air
compressor, car cover, and 2 keys.
Upon arriving at Canepa, the 911 R was meticulously inspected from
tip to tail as a part of the "Canepa Difference" process. One of
Bruce Canepa's favorite modern Porsches, the 911 R's added benefit
are the 18-Way Adaptive Sports Seats which are now a prized
possession in these cars. The car was put through Canepa's
detailing process, including interior, hand washing the underside,
and giving the factory White paint a multi-stage foam pad polish.
Afterwards, it was mechanically inspected to ensure that everything
was operating in excellent condition. With just 1,904 miles since
the car was built, you'd be hard pressed to prove this car was only
a year old, even more so a decade. One of the most iconic modern
Porsches to be built, and still highly desirable for exceptional
driving dynamics, style, comfort, and overall driving enjoyment,
this 2016 Porsche 911 R is ready to be enjoyed, and for someone to
experience a practically-new special edition 911.
