2006 Ford Mustang Shelby GT H In September of 1965, Shelby American General Manager Peyton Cramer struck up a deal with Hertz to offer the 1966 GT350H Mustang as a rental car. The program was a clever one for Ford and Shelby as it worked to promote the Shelby Mustang to potential buyers. Ford and Hertz teamed produced 500 black and gold painted and badged GT350 “H” (for Hertz) cars for rental. They then sold these to the public. This is a very nice, very low mileage #234 of 500 produced in 06. Exterior This gold striped black painted beauty with gold stripes, straight panels, great paint, and a rear spoiler . Front fog lamps, dual power sport mirrors, and premium painted cast aluminum wheels this car is all original. Integrated bumpers also sporting the ends of the gold stripes, give this car a low, mean look that really pops. Interior Black leather trimmed high backed sport buckets. The driver's seat is 6-way power and there is a split fold 2 plus 2 rear seat setup. Deep round gauges are attached to a center square cluster with shiny bezels for highlight. With replacement door panels from Shelby, the interior is in beautiful condition. Features include Ford's Shaker audio system with a 6-CD player and Sirius radio installed by Hertz. Factory A/C blows cold. Sirius radio receiver was added by Hertz. Drivetrain The 4.6 Liter 3 valve V8 is fed by electronic fuel injection and is paired with a 5R55S 5-speed automatic transmission. Undercarriage Independent coil spring suspension is up front and a 3-link rear suspension. Power disc brakes are all around, and a dual exhaust works its way from front to rear. There is a cosmetic flaw where a previous owner used two-sided tape to attach the plate. Removing the adhesive with heat caused a deviation in the line of the stripe. See photo. It was in rental use in the day, so there are a couple of minor chips associated with that. The mufflers have been replaced with axle-back Borla exhaust, but the originals go with the car. The body is excellent and the paint is protected by ceramic glaze. The car has been documented by the Shelby American Registry.
