The 911 SC is perhaps one of the most important variants of the 911 ever produced due to the simple fact that its success helped cement the model's importance in the brand's hierarchy. Engineered as “the last 911”, the SC, for “Super Carrera”, was designed to be a “world car”, with few changes needed to meet standards across the many varied restrictions set by each country. This not only reduced R&D costs but also helped keep manufacturing overhead to a minimum. Initially only available as a coupe or targa, Porsche released the SC cabriolet in late 1982 for the 1983 model year - this was the first full cabriolet for the company since 356 production ended in 1965.

The result was a fabulous sports car well-known to pull hard in any gear thanks to its 3.0L Flat-6 derived from the 1974 911 Turbo along with the driving feel and handling expected of a 911. All without compromising on comfort, as ever more luxury features become standard. Power was initially 180hp, though this was increased by 1981 to 204hp thanks to upgraded fuel injection and an increase in compression. All told, the 911 SC sold in sufficient quantities to prove that the 911 still had a place in the company’s portfolio, thereby paving the way for the 911’s future. The fact it is still a fabulous driving machine by modern standards adds to the desirability of this exceptional investment.

The exceptional 1981 Porsche 911 SC Sunroof Coupe featured here is finished in highly sought-after Platinum Metallic over an impeccably kept Brown leather interior. This investment-grade Porsche has been meticulously maintained and recently was subject to a $20,000 comprehensive engine-out service, making this the perfect example to add to any premier collection. Because of its exceptional condition, low miles, and stunning color combination, I believe the investment potential of this low-production, highly desirable 911 SC will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires only the very best an investment price!
