The 1975 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron marks a major historic milestone
as the final production year of the standalone Imperial marque.
Introduced by Walter P. Chrysler in 1926 and spun off into its own
dedicated luxury division in 1955 to challenge Cadillac and
Lincoln, the Imperial line officially ended its 20-year run as a
separate brand in 1975 due to low sales and the energy crisis. The
1975 Imperial LeBaron was the epitome of traditional American
luxury automotive design, prioritizing a smooth ride and massive
scale.- Size and Scale: It featured a commanding 124-inch
wheelbase, measured an immense 233 inches in total length, and
weighed roughly 5,100 pounds.- Powertrain: To move this massive
vehicle, it relied on a standard 440-cubic-inch (7.2L) V8 engine
paired with a robust TorqueFlite 727 3-speed automatic
transmission,- Exterior Styling: It carried a softer look than its
squarish late-70s successors, featuring a waterfall grille,
concealed flip-down headlights, rear fender skirts, and a plush
vinyl roof. To save on production costs, it shared its central body
shell and select panels with the less expensive Chrysler New
Yorker.- Engine: 440 cu in (7.2L) V8- Transmission: 3-speed
TorqueFlite Automatic- Wheelbase: 124 inches- Total Length: 233
inches- Curb Weight: 5,100 lbs- Brakes: Four-wheel power disc
brakes (a rarity for its time)The interior of the 1975 model was
engineered like a high-end living room, famously featuring what
many automotive enthusiasts consider some of the most comfortable
seats ever fitted to a production car. Buyers could choose between
premium leather seating or deeply buttoned, ribbed velour
inserts.The dashboard included real-time gauges, a digital
chronometer, and a full complement of six individual climate vents.
It also spotlighted Chrysler's cutting-edge tech, such as the
Auto-Temp II automatic climate control system and a
power-retractable radio antenna.Part of the Duncan Imports
collection since 2022 this all original, 40,000 actual mile car was
purchased from a long time collector.
