1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS 4x4 Long Bed Pickup

"The Silverado is just short of a quantum leap in pickups. Not because of any major innovation, but because of a very long list of minor ones. Such as making 16-inch tires and wheels standard, even on the base model. Also standard are: huge four wheel disc brakes with ABS; battery rundown protection; coolant loss protection, "Dynamic Rear Proportioning," which is a computer chip that senses minute changes in wheel speed under braking and adjusts the proportion of rear brake engaged accordingly. Exterior
This example comes to us with a two tone configuration placing Medium Carmine over Gold on a long bed profile augmented by the large 4x4 decals on the rear panel and reflective side steps. We have reflection on the ends too with chrome bumpers including the rear step up, a chrome mid band through the eggcrate grille, and a chrome exhaust tip. 18-inch wheels carry 265/65R18 all terrain tires with an early 2023 date code. A bug guard keeps flying insects off of your windshield up front and a black vinyl tonneau covers the bed tightly and can be viewed through the rear window with a slider. Overall body and paint are excellent with a few imperfections noted as various chips and scratches, most of which are touched up.

Interior
Let's start with the bed which is not only protected by the tonneau, but is further covered by a rugged plastic liner and presents cleanly. Inside, the Medium Oak palette both contrasts and matches the exterior colors and handsome door panels are robust formed plastic with cloth inserts and carpeted lowers and the only flaw is some plastic discoloration on the passenger side. Cloth buckets seats have integrated seatbelts and other than usual compression, remain in fantastic shape. A four spoke steering wheel fronts a simple standard instrument cluster while push button range selector is positioned to the left and AM/FM/CD and A/C panels to the right. Light brown plastic covers the rest of the dash which provides a grab handle for the passenger. The open floor has spotless tan carpet and a formed headliner and overhead console also present nicely.

Drivetrain
The engine bay is clean too and is home to the 5.3 liter LM7 V8, rated at 270 horsepower, fuel injected, and tied to GM's ubiquitous 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to 10 bolt rear and front differential, both with 3.73 gears.

Undercarriage
Patina is minimal on this clean underside where the single exhaust flows through a FlowMaster muffler. Power brakes are split with power disc in front and power drums out back. Suspension is accomplished with torsion bars ahead and leaf springs in the rear.

Drive-Ability
Relatively fresh tires and an all around clean truck meets our expectations for a fine functioning vehicle, getting through the test loop with flying colors and a comfortable cabin. Other than the air conditioning, all functions work on this well preserved Chevrolet. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Of course, there is a tow hitch receiver on the back of the truck, so if you need to two a show car, boat, or race car, this well preserved Silverado may be up to the task. But it's also clean enough and comfortable enough to use as your daily commuter. This is one clean and capable crimson ride. Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1999!
