For Sale: 1975 MG MGB in Berlin, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1975 MGB Roadster

This 1975 MGB was purchased roughly 20 years ago, locally, although the word is it was originally a southern car. The Harvest Gold paint is original and still shows nicely. Yes, there are a few chips here and there, most pointed out in the photos, the car is 50 years old. There are also a couple of dents on the hood/bonnet from it being closed incorrectly. The car is rust/rot free. There is some surface rust under the driver's mat and minor on a couple of suspension bits. The rubber bumpers are in good order and a lower front fairing was added by a previous owner. The wire wheels were also added by a previous owner and really help the car pop.

The black vinyl interior is also original and stock. There is a tear in the driver bolster and a small hole in the drive seat. A Moto Lita steering wheel was installed sometime early on when he first owned, it as were the Pirelli P4 tires.

All the gauges work, the emergency flashers work, the headlights work, the heater fan works and the horn works. The driver blinker does not work (bulbs are on so it is probably a flasher unit), passenger blinker does work. The wipers do not work. Current owner says that he never had it out in the rain and didn't even know they weren't working, the soft top has hardly ever been up in his ownership. Overall good condition, the rear windows are a little stiff and yellowed, a good cutting compound and some polishing will clear them up. There are also two small tears in the top, each over the top frame rail on each side - driver and passenger.

The real beauty of this car is the 1800 4 cylinder. It is clean and hardly leaks any oil. What really makes it though is the sidedraft 2 barrel Mikuni carb and the stainless header and exhaust. Tap the gas a couple times, pull the choke, turn the key and it fires right up, pulling an easy 50-70 PSI of oil pressure. The 2" stainless exhaust burbling nicely.

The odometer shows 75000 but true mileage is unknown.

The exhaust note is low and mellow, not obnoxious, as you easily shift through the gears. The car drives very well, the front discs and rear drums stopping the car as they should.

The owner has done routine maintenance, replaced the alternator and fuel pump in his 20+ years of ownership.

Also included with the car are a few MG manuals, the original jack, the knock off tool and hammer and a full tonneau cover. Unfortunately a mouse got to the head rest covers and there are two small holes, as seen the photos.

This a great running and driving British sports car, turn key and ready to give the new owner a lot of enjoyable drives. Something the current owner hasn't been able to do often enough over the last few of years, hence the reason for sale.

Asking price is $7900.
