For Sale: 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air in St. George, Utah

Vehicle Description

In classic automobile parlance, Tri-Five refers to the 1955, 1956 & 1957 Chevrolets, most popular being the Chevrolet Bel Air. Revolutionary in their day, they spawned a cult following that is bigger today than it's ever been, w/ websites and entire businesses that exclusively cater to the enthusiasts of Chevrolet Tri-Five automobiles. They are simply timeless and are loved dearly by the young as well as the old.

'Red Hills Rods & Classics' is very happy to offer you this gorgeous 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe Custom! We acquired this Chevrolet from a life-long Hot Rodder who purchased the car in 1999, and who subsequently had it restored in 2011-2013 by Carleson Quality Body & Paint in Salt Lake City, Utah. The body work consisted of stripping all of the paint, removing any signs of old bondo, and replacing those spots w/ steel patch panels. The body was then finished in the beautiful two-tone shade of Imolo Red (BMW) and Bright White, using 2-Stage Spies Hecker paint and an anti-UV protection clear coat. You really have to see this car in person to appreciate how gorgeous this unique shade of red truly is. The paint has been polished to a lustrous shine throughout, and looks amazing. All of the chrome & stainless trim, including bumpers (3-piece front & Nomad rear), grille, headlight bezels, taillight bezels, hood moulding, hood bird, etc., are in show quality condition. She has a low mean stance, and rolls on American Racing Torq Thrust alloy wheels (17" x 10" in the rear & 17" x 7" up front), wrapped w/ BF Goodrich G-Force radial tires (295/40/R17 on the rear & 245/45/R17 up front). You can walk around this Bel Air a hundred times and it looks excellent from every angle. For a much-improved driving experience as well as the mean low stance, Heidt tubular upper & lower front control arms were installed, along w/ 2" front drop spindles, 2" drop springs, heavy-duty rear leaf springs w/ polyurethane bushings, and KYB gas-adjust shocks, which was all done by Performance Suspension.

Open the driver's door and you will find a gorgeous red & white bench seat interior, w/ a mostly stock appearance combined w/ several modern components added for comfort. The interior was fitted w/ Dynamat & Butyl Mat sound deadener, including insulation under the firewall, floors, trunk & doors. Other interior features include: red cloth/white vinyl bench seat, matching rear bench seat, matching vinyl door panels, original painted dash & original speedometer/gauge insert, original aluminum dash trim, original painted steering wheel, 10" Lokar floor shifter, Vintage Air Stage IV air conditioning system, billet AC outlets, Sun tachometer mounted on steering column, (3) Auto Gage gauges custom mounted under dash (water temperature, oil pressure & voltage, slightly angled towards driver), cut-off switch mounted under dash, (4) sets of red seat belts, and high-end Daytona red carpeting from front to back. This interior is absolutely beautiful, super comfortable and fully functional in every way.

Now, let's get to the heart of this beautiful Bel Air.

When you pop-open the hood you will find the custom built 377ci stroker motor, which produces 544 hp w/ 505 ft. lbs./torque. A lot of time & money went into building this motor and only the best components were used. Features include: JE SRP pistons (11.7:1), Total Seal gapless rings, Endure-X hydraulic roller lifters, chromoly pushrods, Clevite 77 bearings, SCAT 4340 billet crankshaft, COMP roller cam & valvetrain components, Dart Pro 1 Stage 3 aluminum heads, Fel-Pro wire-ring head gaskets, ARP studs & bolts, Dart Kool Kan dual-plane intake manifold w/ AED, Holley 4779 carburetor, Cloyes True-Roller timing chain, SFI Balancer, SFI flexplate, MSD ignition, Sanderson CC-57 headers, Carter Hi-Flow electric fuel pump, Stewart Hi-Flow water pump, large tube cross-flow radiator w/ dual electric fans, Powermaster starter, and much more! The motor is linked to a BowTie 700R4 Level 3 automatic transmission w/ a 2,500 rpm stall converter & Lokar shift linkage, which feeds power to the Strange Engineering Ford 9" differential w/ Auburn cone-clutch style positraction and 3.70 gears (including a Daytona heavy-duty pinion unit, 31-spline axles & large torino axle bearings). Stopping power comes from the SSBC Force-10 12" disc brakes w/ 4-piston calipers, and SSBC electric vacuum power brake booster. The second that you fire her up you can tell that this powerplant means business. The Sanderson large-tube headers and the 3" exhaust system running through Magnaflow mufflers sounds absolutely amazing! This gorgeous Bel Air is a blast to drive and is sure to get a ton of attention anywhere you decide to take her. The new owner will receive a build book that is highly detailed w/ all of the information on the drivetrain and the car itself.
