I owned a 1978 in high school back in the 90s and that is why I decided to buy this particular car.
Purchased it in March of 2025 from a husband and wife.
Their 16 year old son got it as a birthday gift from Grandpa.
Grandpa bought it from one of his friends who was the original owner.
The husband and wife owned it for less than a year.
As you can imagine they didn't want their 16 year old son driving it. I totally get that.
I have decided I want to put my time into other things.
So my loss is your gain.
Cons:
Some surface rust spots starting.
One rust spot behind the passenger side front wheel that is slightly soft.
The front seat belts could use service so they click in the first time you try. I tried fixing them and they work but not perfect.
The passenger side cable for the fresh air vent needs repair. (It can still open and close though)
The engine bay is pretty dusty.
The inside LTD emblem on the driver side door came off.
The gas gauge is non-functional.
The dashboard clock is also non-functional.
The rear 5 mile an hour bumper design yields lots of rust at the connection point. It's still pretty solid though.
The vinyl top is showing wear along the ( passenger side) side edge of the front windshield.
Pros:
ALL work done 1,000 miles ago.
The inside is next to perfect!
Seats, headliner, dash, carpet all in beautiful condition.
Right after I purchased it I had work done professionally by "Classic Mechanics" (with paperwork) on Northland avenue in Appleton.
They did:
New gas tank and sending unit.
Rebuilt the carburetor.
New fuel filter.
New master cylinder
All new brake lines and hoses.
Serviced the brakes and installed new cylinders in back.
Turned the rotors and drums.
Packed wheel bearings.
Installed wheel seals and hubs.
New brake shoes and pads.
I put on a fresh set of tires and even got a new spare for trunk.
New battery spring of 2026
New air filter. New car mats.
New window cranks (I saved old ones)
New suction cup rear view mirror (I saved old one)
Car cover included
Dash mat also that I didn't install yet.
I also am including everything to do a fresh tune up.
Besides oil and oil filter I have:
Valve cover gaskets
Two belts
Spark plugs
Spark plug wires
Distributor cap and rotor
