This 1975 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is finished in a custom
Violet Blue Metallic, repainted two years ago, and presents in
clean, sharp condition from every angle. Black leather inside,
T-tops above, and a rear luggage rack give it a complete,
well-considered presentation that suits the custom color extremely
well. Under the hood is the 350 cubic inch V8 backed by the
three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic. The 1975 was the final
year the Stingray script appeared on the fenders before Chevrolet
retired the name for the remainder of the C3 generation, which
gives this car a distinction within its own generation that most
buyers overlook until they know to look for it.
The C3 Corvette body was styled after the 1965 Mako Shark II
concept, a design so striking that Chevrolet moved it into
production nearly unchanged. Bill Mitchell, GM's design chief at
the time, was so particular about matching the paint on the show
car to an actual mako shark he had caught that the story became
automotive legend. The shape that resulted from that obsession ran
from 1968 through 1982 and remains one of the most recognized
silhouettes in American car history. The Violet Blue Metallic on
this example gives it a presence in a field of typical red and
white C3s that is impossible to miss.
The mechanical work on this car is thorough and documented. New
power steering assist, new master brake cylinder, new brake lines,
new trailing arms on the driver side, and new gaskets throughout
the suspension have all been addressed, making this a Corvette that
has been properly sorted rather than simply dressed up. A fitted
car cover and rear luggage rack round out a car that has been cared
for and maintained with the attention it deserves.
A custom Violet Blue C3 with a final-year Stingray script, fresh
paint, and sorted mechanicals throughout is a car that stands apart
from most examples you will find on the market today.
