This 1985 Chevy D30 (K30) CUCV M1028/M1008 Military Pickup started
its life in the US military before making its way to a South
Carolina Fire Department. This is the M1028 version which is the
same as a M1008 truck with the exception of Heavier Duty Rear
Suspension, Limited Slip Front Axle, and a Cargo Top. This is a
very clean example which is great because most of these got pretty
beaten up. We were told the miles are original which is feasible
because these trucks usually have low miles from the Military and
also from Fire Departments. The body is clean and solid. It was
repainted in the red color you see at some point by the fire
department. The paint is nice but it is not show quality. It still
has the original front and rear bumpers. The underside of this
truck is extra clean and we found no rust issues with this
truck.
The interior is pretty basic and nice. The seat, floor mat, door
panels, and dash bezel are all original. The dash has a cover
installed because of the typical cracking. The headlights,
taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all working. The
gauges all work. The windshield wipers, heater, and horn works.
This truck does have the blackout lights which are all working
except one in the front.
Mechanically this truck is excellent. It starts easy and runs and
drives great! The engine is the 279CC 6.2L Diesel that runs great
with no issues or red flags that we found. It received a new glow
plug controller and new glow plugs in the last year. It also has a
rebuilt injection pump and new radiator. It has the Turbo 400
Automatic transmission that shifts nice. It is mated to the np208
transfer case and the 4WD works like it should. The rear axle is
the Corporate 14 Bolt with 4.56 gears and a factory locker. The
front axle is a Dana 60 with 4.56 gears and a factory locker. It
has a newer 4 Inch Rough Country Lift with new front springs, new
shocks, and a steering stabilizer. This is all sitting ons a cool
set of H1 Military Beadlock wheels and 37 Inch Goodyear Wrangler
MTR tires. This thing rides great with this setup.
