This 1986 Ford Crown Victoria holds a special place in our family. It was the first car we ever owned in the United States—the physical manifestation of the American Dream for us. For nearly 40 years, it has served us faithfully, with most of its original factory parts still in place and working. We never customized it or added aftermarket parts, except when absolutely necessary for repairs or restoration, such as replacing the hubcaps and restoring the interior upholstery. After we purchased it in 1986, it became our everyday car. It took us to work, hauled groceries, and carried us on countless family trips, including memorable drives to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. Three generations of our family have benefited from its reliability and created priceless memories in it. We recently restored this car as a high school graduation gift for our son. With him leaving for college out of state, we have made the difficult decision to let it go to help support his education.
It's no award-winning show car, granted, and there's always more that could be done. But the original engine and transmission remain in excellent condition, just as they were when the car rolled off the factory assembly line. We hope it finds a new owner who will appreciate its history as much as we have.
