TOOLKITMODERN MERCEDES-BENZ ICON Introduced in 1972, the
all-new 'R107' Mercedes-Benz SL sports-car line replaced the
outgoing six-cylinder 'W113' 280SL and multiplied its success.
Aimed straight at the lucrative American market, especially in
Florida and California, the 450SL featured turbine-smooth 4.5-liter
V-8 power and delivered a major leap forward in terms of
sophistication and drivability. Design of the new SL was led by
Bruno Sacco, who was also responsible for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class
sedans of the 1970s.Built-in safety features and carefully
engineered mechanical improvements delivered an outstanding
all-around experience matched by few, if any, other cars in the
450SL's class. An automatic transmission was standard, along with
luxury features including a removable hardtop. Carrying base
pricing more than twice the average price of U.S. cars,
the Mercedes-Benz 450SL drew an exclusive clientele. It
regularly starred in such popular movies and TV shows as "Dallas,"
"Hart to Hart," "Magnum P.I.," and "The Six Million Dollar Man"
throughout the 1970s and 1980s. A
high-quality example, this 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SL features its
original color combination of Black paint over Parchment leather
upholstery. Previously located in California, this 450SL was
purchased by the current owner from his cousin in 2023. Passenger
amenities include power brakes, power steering, power windows, air
conditioning, a Becker radio, and a removable body-color hardtop.
Accompanied by factory books/manuals, this modern Mercedes-Benz
icon also includes the warranty plate, service records, and spare
keys. A full-size spare wheel/tire and roadside jack are also
included. Call us today for full details, viewing arrangements, and
