1967 Shelby Cobra 427 - 1 Of 260 427 Cobra Street Cars, Previously
Owned By Collector Otis Chandler
Few automobiles occupy the same legendary status as the Shelby
Cobra 427 Street Car. Conceived by Carroll Shelby as the ultimate
expression of raw American horsepower in a lightweight British
sports car, the 427 Cobra represented the culmination of Shelby's
relentless pursuit of performance. Built upon a purpose-designed
coil-spring chassis and powered by Ford's thunderous big-block V-8,
the 427 Street Cobra delivered breathtaking acceleration and
race-inspired handling that few road cars of its era could rival.
Produced in extremely limited numbers, with just 260 genuine
factory Street Cobras completed, these cars remain among the most
coveted and valuable American performance automobiles ever
built.
Offered here is an exceptional example that has recently benefited
from a comprehensive restoration returned to its factory-correct
specifications. It left Shelby American painted green with a black
interior. The car was billed to Don Seelye Ford of Kalamazoo,
Michigan, in September 1966, with the only added option being a
radio. Records show Seelye Ford received a freight credit, and
because of this, the car was most likely trucked out to the
dealership in Michigan. Its first known owner was Timothy H. Parker
of Houston, Texas, from whom it was purchased in the early 1970s by
Donald Mansker, also of Houston. The car is equipped with its
iconic Sunburst knock-off wheels wrapped in Goodyear Blue Dot
tires, and is accompanied by its tools, grease gun, and spare tire.
Adding further significance, this Cobra was previously part of the
renowned Otis Chandler Collection, one of the world's most
respected assemblages of historically important automobiles. Its
history is thoroughly documented in the Shelby Registry, further
reinforcing its authenticity and provenance.
With its outstanding restoration, exceptional ownership history,
factory-correct presentation, and status as one of only 260
factory-built Shelby 427 Street Cars, this Cobra represents an
extraordinary opportunity to acquire one of the most important
American performance cars ever produced. Whether destined for the
finest concours events, prestigious collections, or spirited road
use, it embodies the uncompromising spirit that made the Shelby
Cobra an enduring automotive icon.
