Gateway Classic Cars is proud to present this 1973 Dodge
Challenger, a Mopar muscle car that continues to command attention
more than five decades after it first rolled onto the streets.
Finished in eye-catching Rallye Red with a satin black hood
treatment and matching side stripes, this Challenger captures the
aggressive styling that made these E-body cars legends of the
muscle car era. Sitting on chrome rally-style wheels wrapped in
BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, this Challenger has the stance
enthusiasts expect from a big-block four-speed Mopar.
Lifting the hood reveals a 440 cubic-inch V8 backed by a 4-speed
manual transmission, providing the kind of driver engagement that
has made these cars so desirable. According to the accompanying
handwritten build notes, the engine has been extensively upgraded
with performance components including Edelbrock Performer RPM
aluminum heads, an Edelbrock Performer RPM dual-plane intake
manifold, a Holley 750 CFM double-pumper carburetor with mechanical
secondaries, roller rockers, forged Wiseco aluminum pistons, Eagle
forged steel connecting rods, and a steel crankshaft. The build
also features a 10.5:1 compression ratio along with an Isky Mega
high-torque camshaft, creating a serious foundation for big-block
performance.
Additional performance upgrades include MSD ignition and
distributor components, long tube headers feeding a 3-inch exhaust
system, a four-row aluminum radiator with dual electric cooling
fans, an electric choke, and an electric fuel pump equipped with a
Holley bypass pressure regulator and return-style fuel system to
help keep fuel delivery consistent.
The suspension and braking systems have also received attention.
The handwritten notes indicate the front suspension has been
rebuilt with new bushings and lower control arms, while Wilwood
disc brakes have been installed to provide improved stopping
capability.
Inside, the Challenger features a clean light-colored bucket seat
interior that complements the vibrant exterior. The classic
dashboard layout, center console, and iconic pistol-grip-style
four-speed shifter complete the vintage muscle car atmosphere,
reminding you that this Challenger was built for those who enjoy
rowing through the gears and hearing the unmistakable sound of a
healthy Mopar big block.
With its unmistakable Rallye Red appearance, upgraded 440 V8,
four-speed manual transmission, and an extensive list of documented
performance enhancements, this 1973 Dodge Challenger is ready for
its next caretaker to appreciate one of America's most iconic
muscle cars.
