The 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX is one of the rarest and most
desirable models to come from Oldsmobile's muscle car era,
combining the refined appearance of the Cutlass Supreme with the
legendary torque of the 455 cubic inch Rocket V8. Produced for only
a short time and in limited numbers, the SX has become increasingly
difficult to find-especially one that has received the level of
restoration and mechanical attention this example has.
Finished in a professionally applied bright red paint, this Cutlass
SX has outstanding curb appeal. The paint presents beautifully with
excellent gloss and is complemented by a brand-new black vinyl top,
both of which are of exceptional quality. The exterior has also
been refreshed with all new chrome trim, bumpers, and lighting,
giving the car a crisp, fresh appearance from every angle.
Completing the look are the original Oldsmobile Super Stock mag
wheels wrapped in like-new BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
Power comes from the legendary 455ci Rocket V8 engine backed by a
durable TH400 automatic transmission. Shifting is handled through a
desirable Hurst floor shifter mounted in the center console,
providing the perfect combination of classic muscle car performance
and driving enjoyment. Equipped with power steering, power brakes,
heat, and factory air conditioning, this Oldsmobile is comfortable
and easy to drive. While the A/C is not currently functioning, all
of the factory components remain installed.
Inside, you'll find a black vinyl bucket seat interior with the
original dashboard and center console. Both front bucket seats have
recently been professionally reupholstered and present beautifully.
The remainder of the interior is very respectable, though there are
a few areas that could benefit from additional attention. The
dashboard has some chips and imperfections consistent with age, and
the factory radio is currently inoperative. All gauges are
functioning properly, as are the windshield wipers and exterior
lights. The only known electrical item not currently working is the
dome light.
Open the trunk and you'll find a freshly refinished spatter-painted
trunk compartment that continues the car's clean presentation.
Underneath, this Cutlass SX is equally impressive, featuring a
remarkably solid and rust-free underbody. Recent mechanical updates
include all new shocks, new brakes, and a new exhaust system,
making this a car that's ready to be driven and enjoyed. Power is
transferred through a desirable 12-bolt rear axle, adding to the
car's performance pedigree.
