Inspired by the larger-than-life police detectives of mid-century
comic book fame, the consignor of this 1951 Chevrolet Styleline De
Luxe 4-Door Sedan commissioned a carte blanche build to craft a
one-of-a-kind undercover police cruiser fit for the most
hard-boiled detectives. The Styleline is equipped with several law
enforcement-themed modifications including an externally mounted
Si-Rex vintage siren, Lamphus SoundAlert PA system, plus red and
blue lights cleverly hidden behind the grille. Its stealthy black
finish, which is enveloped in a charming layer of patina, hides a
reupholstered interior with bench seating and Alcantara
headliner.
The elegant Styleline body, acquired in 2020, has been married to
an Art Morrison Engineering (AME) GT Sport chassis. As the go-to
custom chassis for restomod builds, AME chassis are renowned for
providing superior chassis strengthening and stiffening, and
consequently improved handling with the help of the reengineered
chassis' included AME multilink independent front suspension,
triangulated rear suspension, and Strange Engineering adjustable
coil over shock absorbers.
A lift of the hood reveals a 5.7-liter General Motors LS3 V8
enhanced with Holley Sniper Electronic Fuel Injection, AEM
Performance Electronics High-Flow External Electric Fuel Pump,
Brice Thomas aluminum radiator, and Flowmaster stainless steel
exhaust. Fifteen-inch wheels wearing chrome hubcaps and Mickey
Thompson Radial tires hide Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners.
Combined with a four-speed automatic transmission featuring a
3.50:1 rear end gear ratio, this 1951 Chevrolet is a balanced
highway cruiser that can confidently put the power down when it
counts.
Since the consignor acquired the car in 2020, it has been
maintained in-house by a trusted team of mechanics within the
owner's renowned collection in Los Angeles, California.
Understated yet elegant at first glance, this 1951 Chevrolet
Styleline De Luxe 4-Door Sedan reveals an extraordinary depth of
creativity and craftsmanship the closer one looks at its
thoughtfully curated upgrades and delightfully executed
detective-car persona. Guaranteed to be a crowd favorite wherever
it appears, it is certain to captivate enthusiasts of all ages with
its arsenal of period-inspired law-enforcement gadgets, while its
thoroughly modernized underpinnings provide the performance to
ensure that no would-be getaway car stands much of a chance.
