Aston Martin marked its hundredth year in 2013 with a series of
centenary specials, chief among them a limited run of 100 Vanquish
coupes celebrating a century of exquisite British craftsmanship.
That milestone unfolded alongside a parallel story of nearly equal
length. Since Sean Connery was first issued an Aston Martin by Q
Branch, it has remained James Bond's most iconic marque of choice,
with its cars woven into 007's identity as surely as the Walther
PPK or the vodka martini, shaken, not stirred.
When Daniel Craig took on the role, spanning Casino Royale, Quantum
of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die, that association
deepened further. Of the 100 Centenary Edition Vanquish cars built,
chassis 007 was set aside for Craig himself, a fitting number for
the actor credited with reinventing Bond for a new generation of
audiences.
Craig worked directly with Aston Martin chief creative officer
Marek Reichman at the company's Gaydon, Warwickshire headquarters
to personalize the car. The result is a bespoke two-tone Black and
Midnight Blue Metallic exterior with a matching leather interior.
Additionally, the car was fitted with a blue leather accessories
case denoted with a silver plaque numbered 007. This is also noted
in the original owner's manual with the first owner listed as "DWC
007," delivered on 12 June 2014.
It remained in Craig's personal collection until 2018, when it was
acquired by the current owner. At the time of the sale, Craig noted
that "This Aston Martin Vanquish is a tour de force of automobile
engineering and a distinct pleasure to drive." Now offered for the
first time since leaving Daniel Craig's ownership, displaying just
under 1,300 miles at cataloging, this piece of 007 history is
offered with two keys, car cover, Aston Martin battery tender,
owner's manual, Vanquish book, silver Aston Martin cufflinks, a
matching rollerball pen, Bang & Olufsen headphones, and a polishing
cloth for the car's badges and plaques. Additionally, the car
benefits from a recent annual service performed by Aston Martin
Greenwich. This Centenary Edition Vanquish represents a rare
convergence of Aston Martin's hundred-year history and its prolific
cinematic partnership with James Bond, personalized by and for the
actor who reinvented Bond for a whole new generation.
