INTRODUCTION: A Camaro restoration specialist performed a complete
rotisserie restoration, then took it a step further with tasteful
Pro-Touring upgrades. Personally, I'd argue this generation has one
of the sleekest, most aggressive designs Chevrolet ever built. You
don't see many late 1970s Camaros restored to this level, and
there's a simple reason why. It costs just as much to restore one
of these as it does an earlier Camaro, yet the earlier cars
typically bring a much higher return. That's what makes this one so
special.
EXTERIOR: The second generation Camaro has always been admired for
its sleek, aggressive styling. The long hood, low roofline, short
deck, and Endura front nose give it an unmistakable muscle car
presence, while the Z/28-style hood scoop adds just the right
amount of attitude. It started as an exceptionally clean, dry body
that's now laser straight, with excellent panel fit throughout. The
car has been refinished in stunning 2024 Lexus Iridium Silver
Metallic (code 1L2). The metallic is laid down evenly, protected by
a deep clear coat, and polished to a smooth, mirror like gloss that
really brings the body lines to life. All the glass, lenses, and
weatherstripping have all been replaced, and it's fitted with Hella
headlights for improved visibility. A three piece rear spoiler
completes the sporty appearance, while the polished American Racing
Torque Thrust wheels- 18x10s up front and massive 18x11s in the
rear are wrapped in Nitto performance tires, giving the car an
aggressive stance that's as impressive parked as it is going down
the road.
INTERIOR: It was completely gutted and rebuilt with an emphasis on
both comfort and performance. The cabin was lined with sound
deadener before receiving an all new wiring system. Plush carpet
was installed and is protected with matching floor mats. The front
seats have been upgraded with supportive Corbeau Sport bucket
seats, while the rear seat has been custom upholstered to match,
giving the interior a cohesive, appearance. It retains the original
center console, and the dash is in excellent condition, now fitted
with a full set of Auto Meter Sport-Comp gauges to keep an eye on
the engine's vital signs. A beautiful custom steering wheel gives
the driver a great feel, while the clean radio-delete dash
reinforces the car's performance focused personality. Finishing
touches include new seat belts, door panels and a new headliner.
It's a clean, purposeful interior that's every bit as impressive as
the rest of the car.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is where the upgrades really begin- the
145 HP 350 was upgraded with a completely rebuilt LS1 5.7-liter V8,
delivering the kind of reliable performance, drivability, and power
that makes this Camaro a pleasure to own. The engine is equipped
with a serpentine front runner accessory drive, modern power
steering, a modern air conditioning system, a high output
alternator, and a custom cold air intake. Keeping everything cool
is an aluminum three row radiator with an overflow tank, assisted
by one electric pusher fan and two electric puller fans. The
braking system has also been upgraded with a new cadmium plated
power brake booster and new master cylinder. The engine compartment
itself is clean, freshly painted, and beautifully detailed. It's
not only attractive to look at, but thoughtfully built with modern
components that make this Camaro as dependable as it is
impressive.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and in the jamb, everything
is finished in the same high gloss silver as the exterior. Inside,
the trunk is absolutely pristine, dry metal painted satin black
finish.
UNDERSIDE: Every component underneath this car was removed during
the restoration, and the body was flipped on a rotisserie. The
floors are absolutely pristine, not even pitted. Even the chassis
components were prepped and painted smoothly. The front and rear
suspension was completely rebuilt and features Hotchkis 2-inch
lowering springs, KYB gas shocks, and all new MOOG bushings. The
steering was rebuilt and has a close ratio steering box for crisp
handling. The brake and fuel systems have been completely replaced,
including new lines, hoses, e-brake cables, and a fuel system
compatible with the fuel-injected engine. Wilwood four-wheel disc
brakes provide confident stopping power. The exhaust is an all
stainless Pypes system with X-Pipe and Street Pro mufflers. Looking
up at the engine, you'll find an aluminum oil pan and a high torque
starter. Power is delivered through a rebuilt 4L60E overdrive
automatic transmission to a 3.73 posi 10-bolt rear end via a
rebuilt driveshaft. It's immaculate under this Camaro!
