INTRODUCTION: This one checks every box! It's the one year only
1973 Corvette with the distinctive rubber front bumper and chrome
rear bumpers, and it's a convertible. Under the hood is the
original #s-matching 454 big block backed by a highly desirable
four-speed, plus factory air conditioning- a combination that's
exceptionally rare. It also comes loaded with options. Best of all,
it's been restored to factory fresh condition while retaining its
#s-matching drivetrain. If you've been looking for a big-block C3
with the right options, the right look, and the right pedigree,
this is the one.
EXTERIOR: It is outstanding! In fact, I'd say it's better than new
because the factory never delivered them with a finish this smooth
and glossy. The body is exceptionally straight and all of the
panels fit beautifully. The pop up headlights operate properly, and
the front rubber bumper is in excellent condition. It's been
repainted in its original Mille Miglia Red, and the finish has been
polished to a deep, glass like shine. The chrome and trim are
bright, the correct antenna is in place, and the rear chrome
bumpers have been replaced, giving the car a fresh appearance. It
also has a new black convertible top. As a 1973 model, it features
the unique combination of a rubber front bumper and chrome rear
bumpers, making it instantly recognizable. The convertible top is
in excellent condition, all of the weatherstripping has been
replaced, the door jambs are painted slick, and the windshield is
in good shape. It's sitting on a set of brightly polished aluminum
wheels- an option first offered in 1973 and wrapped in BFGoodrich
tires that give it just the right stance.
INTERIOR: The interior isn't just clean- I think it's exceptional.
The fresh carpet was neatly installed from front to back and is
protected by embroidered floor mats. The seats have been
recushioned and beautifully reupholstered, making them look and
feel like new. Between them is the center console in excellent
condition, topped with a leather armrest cushion. It features power
window switches and the highly desirable factory four-speed,
complete with the correct shifter. The dash is equally impressive.
The heater controls, factory AM/FM radio, and gauges all present
beautifully. It also has the optional tilt and telescopic steering
column with the deluxe steering wheel. The door panels have been
replaced, the dash pad and sun visors are in mint condition, and
even the interior lights are all working.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It looks factory fresh and is loaded with
highly desirable original features. At its heart is the original
VIN-matching 454 big block. We've verified the casting numbers,
date codes, and engine pad stampings, so you can be confident it's
the real deal. It's correctly dressed with the factory exhaust
manifolds, valve covers, ignition shielding, and a functional cowl
induction air cleaner assembly. It also features power steering,
power brakes, and the factory air conditioning system, which has
been restored and is blowing cold. Every component looks proper and
exactly where it belongs. It has the correct clutch fan, a new fan
shroud, hood insulation, and even the washer squirters are hooked
up. It's an exceptionally clean and authentic engine compartment
that really enhances this car.
UNDERSIDE: The underside of this Corvette is every bit as
impressive as the top. It looks practically brand new underneath.
The entire chassis is exceptionally clean, and all of the
mechanical components appear fresh and properly restored. It
retains the Corvette's fully independent suspension front and rear,
which has been completely rebuilt with new bushings, ball joints,
AC Delco shocks, and rebuilt steering, including a new power
steering ram. It has the correct factory style dual exhaust with
the proper square tips exiting through the rear valance. The four
wheel disc brake system has also been restored, with new lines,
hoses, and a functioning emergency brake. Looking up at the
drivetrain, the engine is spotless and finished in the correct
Chevy Orange. It has the correct starter and its original
VIN-matching M21 Muncie four-speed transmission. A rebuilt
driveshaft connects to the original rear end, complete with the
proper casting dates and codes and equipped with 3.55 Positraction
gears. The chassis components are smooth and finished in semi-gloss
black, the fiberglass floors are in mint condition, and it even
retains its correct original spare tire carrier.
