Classic Car Marketing, Inc. Southern California’s premier marketing company is pleased to introduce this new listing offered for sale by one of our clients.
This 1939 Divco Twin Coach is said to have been part of a fleet of delivery trucks manufactured for Los Angeles-based Helms Bakery. The truck is finished in a yellow and blue Helms Bakery livery, and power comes from a Continental L-head inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a 12-volt electrical system, suspension with solid axles and leaf springs at the front and the rear, with four wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
The Twin Coach features welded unitized construction, measures 172″ long, and rides on a 96″ wheelbase, has two sets of mirrors, and a clamshell tailgate. The roof-mounted air vent is covered with a blue-painted panel, and the removed vent is included in the sale. Wraparound front windows, sliding side doors, and an air whistle complete the look. 16″ blue steel wheels and DIVCO-TWIN-branded hubcaps are mounted on the front wheels.
Inside, the cabin utilizes a stand-and-drive layout, and it is equipped with wood cabinets and sliding glass-front drawers that can be locked for transport. The bicycle-style seat is mounted to a folding base that can be moved for entry and egress, and black rubber mats line the floors. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a Stewart-Warner 80-mph speedometer and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 300 miles, and total mileage is unknown. A collection of Helms Bakery memorabilia is included in the sale.
