"In the years that I've been livin', a lot of things have surely
changed. A lot of things have come and gone, some even came back
again. But through all the many changes, some things are for sure,
and you know that it's a mighty fine year, kind of makes me feel
secure. Cause I love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet.
They go together in the good ole USA; baseball, hot dog, apple pie,
and Chevrolet." Lyrics from the 1975 Chevrolet commercial.
For consignment, a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette coupe showing 59,254
miles, but the true miles are unknown. The car was repainted its
original color in 2021, and in 2022 numerous items were rebuilt or
replaced including the exhaust, suspension, carburetor.
Exterior
The can't miss Corvette Orange gleams brightly here with fantastic
coverage and very few flaws. The long nose, raised fenders, and
rearward canting windshield and fender vents makes for a pleasing
profile, balanced by the subtle spoiler in back. Colored keyed
T-tops lead to a wide C-pillar and flying buttresses that open up
to an added luggage rack on the rear deck. Iconic quad tail lights
fit in a one piece tail which is molded to accept the license plate
in a clean design that many have replicated without the instant
recognizability of America's sports car. 15-inch Chevrolet Rally
wheels carry 225/70R15 tires for a solid, square stance. The paint
and bodywork are exceptional, with some minor flaws noted as spider
crack in the wing, a hairline crack at a wheel opening and at the
nose, swirl marks on the rocker trim, and various chips.
Interior
Woodgrain inserts dress the black plastic doors and all hardware is
clean and in place. Inside, black leather bucket seats are tall and
flat by today's standards but present in great condition with not
so much as compression to show use. Two large gauges are set behind
the standard steering wheel and include a speedometer and
tachometer. The center stack gets busy with five gauges including a
clock, horizontal vents, and an original, refurbished AM/FM radio.
Map pockets front the passenger in lieu of a glove box, and the
center console shows clean with the chrome ball shifter taking
center stage and the plastics in fantastic shape. Black loop carpet
is uniform and clean and also covers the rear cargo area. You'd be
hard pressed to find many C3's with this clean interior.
Drivetrain
The clean trend continues in the bay where the numbers matching
350ci L48 V8 resides, putting out 165 horsepower and pumping fuel
through a 4-barrel carburetor. Behind it, a numbers matching T10
4-speed manual transmission routing power to the rear wheels via
3.36 gears with Positraction.
Undercarriage
This is where you'll find a lot of the 2022 work with a rebuilt
suspension that includes coil springs up front and the complex rear
configuration with a frame anchored differential, tubular axles
drive shafts, transverse strut rods and transverse leaf springs.
The power disc brakes benefit from newer pads, rotors and calipers
and are found on all four wheels. Dual exhaust runs through stock
style mufflers just before finding some atmosphere in the back.
There's some typical surface rust underneath but conditions are
clean and dry otherwise.
Drive-Ability
This clean vintage Corvette delivers a clean vintage ride with no
hiccups in its ability to handle turns, brake on demand, and row
through the gears. Low to the ground, wide, and comfortable, this
is the experience thousands of Vette owners enjoy in one form or
another, every day! We note the wipers not working but all other
functions, including the A/C, operate as they should on this well
sorted example. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
They say red cars get the most attention, catch your eyes the
quickest. Be we'd argue that this orange Corvette is more vibrant,
more eye-catching. Color aside, the body is straight and clean and
the interior, engine bay, and underside provides a turn key
opportunity for an instant show car.
