Classic Car Addict is proud to present this family-owned-since-new
1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL with 32k original miles for sale in our
Mesa, Arizona showroom. The 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL belongs to the
legendary R107 chassis generation, one of the longest-running model
lines in Mercedes-Benz history, produced from 1971 through 1989.
During the 1980s, the R107 SL became a symbol of success, luxury,
and open-air motoring, appearing throughout the era's television
and movie culture.
Exterior:
The car is finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) and features a
color-matched removable hardtop as well as a dark blue convertible
soft top. Additional exterior details include quad headlights, fog
lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. The
car will also come with the hardtop roller stand. Silver-finished
14" Bundt alloy wheels are mounted to Michelin 205/70R14 tires with
2019 DOT date codes.
Interior:
Blue leather (232) covers the bucket seats, which are accompanied
by a color-coordinated dashboard, center console, door panels, and
carpeting. Other appointments include automatic climate control, a
Becker Europa AM/FM/cassette stereo, wood trim, electric windows,
central locking, and cruise control. The four-spoke steering wheel
frames VDO instrumentation including an 85-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm
tachometer, clock, and additional gauges for coolant temperature,
oil pressure, fuel level, and fuel economy. The six-digit odometer
shows 32,317 actual miles.
Engine:
Power comes from the numbers-matching 3.8-liter M116 V8 engine. The
M116 was Mercedes-Benz's light-alloy V8 and delivered the smooth,
refined character expected from the SL roadster. Built for relaxed
grand touring rather than brute-force muscle, the 380SL offers the
kind of confident, polished driving experience that helped make the
R107 such an enduring classic.
Transmission:
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a factory four-speed
automatic transmission with a gated floor shifter in the center
console. This hydraulic automatic transmission was engineered for
smooth, composed luxury cruising.
Wheels and Tires:
Silver-finished 14" Bundt alloy wheels are mounted to Michelin
205/70R14 tires with 2019 DOT date codes.
Brakes:
Stopping power is provided by four-wheel power-assisted hydraulic
disc brakes.
Convertible Top and Hardtop:
This 380SL includes both a dark blue convertible soft top and a
color-matched removable hardtop. The hardtop roller stand is also
included with the sale.
