For Sale: 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in Miami, Florida

Vehicle Description

1978 Pontiac Trans Am – originally a Z Code – Rotisserie Restored – LS Powered – T56 6-Speed – Built to Drive

If you're looking for a numbers-matching museum piece, this probably isn't the car for you.

If you're looking for a beautifully restored second-generation Trans Am that starts every time, cruises comfortably at modern highway speeds, handles exceptionally well, stops with confidence, and puts a huge smile on your face every time you drive it, then keep reading.

This genuine 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Z-code has undergone a comprehensive rotisserie restoration with extensive performance upgrades designed to make it a reliable, enjoyable, and highly capable driver's car while preserving the unmistakable styling of the late '70s Trans Am.

The body was completely separated from the sub-frame and restored beyond factory finish. The underside is every bit as impressive as the exterior, finished in the  red glossy oxide primer with gloss black components, spectacular! look at the pics below. The chassis, suspension, floor pans, engine compartment, radiator support, and inner fenders have all been restored to an exceptional show-quality standard. The firewall has been smoothed, giving the engine compartment a clean, modern appearance.

The car is powered by a modern GM 6.0L LS family fuel-injected V8, replacing the original Pontiac 400. The engine features performance cylinder head work, a performance camshaft, electronic fuel injection, custom  functional shaker and a full dual exhaust system that delivers an aggressive muscle car sound without sacrificing reliability. Turn the key, and it starts instantly whether hot or cold.

Backing the modern engine is a Tremec Magnum T56 six-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch, making this Trans Am equally comfortable cruising down the interstate or carving through back roads.

To complement the drive train, the car received major chassis upgrades, including:

  • GM 6.0L LS V8 with performance cam and head work

  • Tremec Magnum T56 six-speed manual transmission

  • Hydraulic clutch conversion

  • Wilwood four-wheel power disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors

  • Detroit Speed Engineering tubular suspension components

  • Modern upgraded suspension for significantly improved handling

  • Vintage Air air conditioning that blows ice cold

  • JL Audio Bluetooth stereo system with phone connectivity

The car rides on YearOne 17-inch Snowflake wheels, wrapped in brand-new Nitto NT555 performance tires:

  • Front: 245/45ZR17

  • Rear: 275/40ZR17

The stance is exactly what a Trans Am should be—aggressive without being overdone.

The interior has been completely restored in the original Deluxe style and presents beautifully, featuring:

  • New dash pad

  • New seat upholstery

  • New carpet

  • New headliner

  • New door panels

  • Restored interior trim

  • Factory-style Deluxe interior

Inside, the car looks, feels, and smells like a freshly restored classic.

This isn't simply an older restoration with a few bolt-on parts. This was an extensive build requiring overwhelming  amount of labor hours, countless new and restored components, and a substantial investment in parts, materials, machining, fabrication, and skilled craftsmanship.

Today, duplicating a build of this quality—from purchasing a solid car to performing a complete rotisserie restoration with modern drivetrain, suspension, braking, and comfort upgrades—would very likely cost well into the six-figure range at current restoration shop rates.

The result is a Trans Am that delivers the best of both worlds: classic Pontiac styling with modern drivability. It has the sound, the performance, the handling, and the reliability that make it a car you can confidently enjoy instead of simply admire.

Whether you're heading to a local cruise night, a national Pontiac event, or taking a weekend road trip hundreds of miles away, this Trans Am is ready.

The car is located in our showroom in Miami, Florida, and inspections are welcome by appointment.
