1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Tribute — 427 Side Oiler by Holman-Moody — 4-Speed
The History
The original 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake is one of the rarest cars to ever wear the Shelby name. Only one was built, a test mule meant to push the GT500 platform past anything Ford was willing to sell to the public. Carroll Shelby's team dropped in a race-bred 427 side oiler and paired it with a 4-speed manual, turning an already quick car into something closer to a race car that happened to have license plates.
The Car
This tribute follows that same blueprint, and it's not a cosmetic tribute. The 427 side oiler under the hood was installed by Holman-Moody, the Charlotte, North Carolina shop that built and prepped Ford's factory race program through the 1960s, including Le Mans winning GT40s and NASCAR championship cars. You feel that pedigree the moment you turn the key.
This is not a cruiser with a big motor stuffed in. It drives like what it is, a genuinely race built machine wearing a Mustang body.
Finished in Wimbledon White with the correct 4-speed manual, the car has been fully inspected by our team with any necessary work completed before it reached the showroom.
Condition
Most of the interior is original, down to a steering wheel that shows its age honestly instead of hiding it. That kind of wear tells you this car has been driven, not parked in a corner somewhere. The exterior has a few paint flaws typical of a car with real history, nothing that takes away from its presence, but worth knowing going in.
You can take it exactly as it sits and drive it the way it was built to be driven, or our team can bring it up to concours condition if you want it ready for the show circuit. Either way, what's underneath is the real thing.
