1982 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista For Sale This 1982
Chevrolet El Camino wears the Conquista trim, the
appearance-oriented package that sat near the top of Chevy's
car-based pickup line during the G-body years. This one has been
turned into a street-focused restomod, finished in newer metallic
maroon over a matching maroon interior, and built around a fresh
small-block that was clearly the centerpiece of the project.Power
comes from a BluePrint 383 stroker V8, said to have less than 5,000
miles on it, topped with BluePrint cylinder heads and a Holley
carburetor. Long tube headers feed a true dual exhaust, and a Cold
Case aluminum radiator handles cooling. Behind the engine is a
TH350 three-speed automatic with a B&M shifter, sending
power to a rear end with 3.73 gears. It's a torque-first
combination: the 383 makes its power down low, the TH350 is a
simple and durable automatic, and the 3.73 ratio biases the car
toward acceleration and around-town response rather than highway
rpm.Underneath, the rear suspension has been upgraded with UMI
Performance rear control arms and pan hard bar, a common and
worthwhile improvement on these G-bodies for tightening up the
factory geometry. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums;
the front pads currently measure 8/32, the rear shoes 5/32, and all
four tires measure 10/32. LED headlights bring the lighting up to
modern standards. Inside, the maroon bucket seats and carpet are
clean and in great shape, and the driver has a full set of Bosch
gauges monitoring volts, water temperature, and oil pressure, along
with a Bosch tach. This is a factory air conditioning car, though
it does not currently have working A/C.Altogether it's a
straightforward, well-sorted El Camino restomod: a fresh
low-mileage stroker and supporting hardware, a clean
maroon-on-maroon presentation, and a few sensible chassis and
lighting updates, aimed at someone who wants a G-body they can
drive and enjoy rather than a project to finish.NFI Empire
