GR Auto Gallery is excited to present this 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser
Dream Cruiser Series 1 finished in Inca Gold Pearl Metallic over a
Grey premium leather interior. Few vehicles generated as much
excitement upon their debut as the PT Cruiser. Introduced for the
2001 model year, it quickly became one of the hottest new vehicles
in America, with waiting lists stretching for months and
dealerships selling them as quickly as they could arrive. Its
retro-inspired styling blended 1930s hot rod influences with modern
practicality, creating a vehicle unlike anything else on the
road.
To celebrate the popularity of both the PT Cruiser and Detroit's
legendary Woodward Dream Cruise, Chrysler introduced the
limited-production Dream Cruiser Series 1 for 2002. Only 7,500
examples were produced, each finished exclusively in Inca Gold
Pearl Metallic, the same color first seen on the 1998 Pronto
Cruiser concept that inspired the production car. Every Dream
Cruiser Series 1 received a numbered dash plaque, making each
example individually identified from the factory and adding to its
collectability.
Power comes from a dependable 2.4L inline four paired with a
4-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Chrysler
engineered the PT Cruiser to deliver the comfort and driving
characteristics of a passenger car while qualifying as a light
truck for fuel economy regulations, making it one of the more
unique vehicles of its era. The result is a practical cruiser with
excellent visibility, comfortable road manners, and unmistakable
styling.
Inside, the Dream Cruiser Series 1 received its own distinctive
treatment with Grey premium leather low bucket seats, a
gold-painted dashboard, white-faced gauges, heated front seats, and
a factory sunroof. The coordinated gold accents throughout the
cabin create one of the most recognizable interiors ever offered in
a PT Cruiser. Riding on factory 16-inch chrome aluminum wheels,
this example retains all of the signature features that made the
Dream Cruiser Series 1 so special.
While Chrysler would go on to produce four additional Dream Cruiser
editions along with several other special PT Cruiser models, the
Series 1 remains the original and arguably the most significant. It
was the first, the rarest in concept, and the only one finished in
the iconic Inca Gold Pearl Metallic derived directly from the
concept car. As clean, unmodified examples become increasingly
difficult to find, this Dream Cruiser Series 1 stands as a unique
piece of early-2000s automotive history and a reminder of one of
Chrysler's most successful retro designs.
