"It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant, it's got cop tires,
cop suspension, cop shocks..." Well, this one actually has a potent
400 Mopar V8, but it delivers every bit of the cinematic magic you
could ever dream of! Showing an accurate 81,000 miles on the
odometer, this 1974 Dodge Monaco has been painstakingly converted
into a highly accurate, screen-faithful replica of the iconic
"Bluesmobile" from the legendary film The Blues Brothers. If you
are looking to turn heads, draw massive crowds, and generate more
smiles than you could ever imagine, this is the ultimate
ticket.
Screen-Accurate Movie Details & Build Specs
The previous owner went to incredible lengths to ensure this Monaco
captures the exact look, feel, and weathered charm of the on-screen
star:
Movie-Correct Base: Built using the exact, correct-year 1974 Dodge
Monaco platform.
Authentic Graphics: Features computer-recreated police worn
markings and livery lifted directly from high-resolution on-screen
film images.
Screen-Accurate Interior: Configured with the correct tan
dashboard, and the interior color-converted and recovered in
film-matching tan.
Correct Steering Wheel: Fitted with the proper police steering
wheel featuring the distinct metal horn ring to match the
screen-used version.
Police Spotlight: Comes with the exact, proper S6 Unity working
police spotlight to match the screen-used light. Please note that
the installation of this spotlight has not been fully completed
yet, but the correct unit accompanies the car.
Push-Bars: Outfitted with the correct police front push-bars
complete with the proper rubber push pads.
The "Easter Eggs": Built with the correct rear gas door missing the
factory lettering just like the movie car, as well as the missing
driver-side front turn signal cover to mirror its on-screen
appearance.
Stance & Exhaust: Given a lowered wheel stance to perfectly
replicate the movie car's aggressive, worn-in look, paired with a
2-inch police exhaust system mated to the 400 Mopar engine.
Rolling Stock: Rides on correct police steel wheels wrapped in the
movie-correct tire size.
Factory Fender Tag Decoding
The original fender tag remains intact on the radiator core support
and decodes with the following factory specifications:
E63: 400 cubic inch 2-Barrel V8 Engine
D34: TorqueFlite Automatic Transmission
DP43: Dodge Monaco Premium 4-Door Sedan
K4F: 400 V8 Engine (K), 1974 Model Year (4), Newark, Delaware
Assembly Plant (F)
KG6: Deep Sherwood Metallic exterior paint (The original factory
color prior to its Bluesmobile transformation)
914: Scheduled production date of September 14, 1973
V1X: Full Vinyl Roof - Black
U: Built to U.S. Specifications
G53: Left-hand remote outside rearview mirror
G63: Right-hand manual outside rearview mirror
H51: Air Conditioning with Front Heater
L31: Hood/Fender Mounted Turn Signal Indicators
V5X: Body Side Molding with Black Vinyl Insert
END: End of Fender Tag Codes
Body, Paint & Cosmetic Condition
Cosmetically, this car wears its movie-correct battle scars with
pride. Just like the real Bluesmobile, it is meant to look like a
heavily abused, decommissioned mount. As such, there is some rust
and various cosmetic blemishes present throughout the body, but it
serves to heighten the absolute authenticity of the replica. The
structure is stable, the distressed police paint scheme looks
fantastic from ten feet or ten inches, and it instantly commands
attention wherever it goes.
Mechanicals & Drivability
Under the hood, the 400 cubic inch Mopar V8 runs and drives very
well. Thanks to the custom 2-inch police exhaust system, it has a
great vintage rumble that matches its rugged exterior. The
automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and the car cruises down
the road with ease. This Monaco was originally optioned from the
factory with air conditioning as verified by the fender tag, though
the AC system is currently inoperable at the moment. As a turn-key
cruiser, it is mechanically sorted enough to drive to your next
local car show, movie screening, or charity event right away.
Whether you are a die-hard fan of the film, a collector of famous
movie cars, or just someone who loves making people happy on the
road, this screen-accurate 1974 Bluesmobile replica is ready for
its next mission from God.
