INTRODUCTION: These modified Mustangs certainly aren't losing
popularity! In fact, I've recently seen one bring half a million
dollars at auction. This one has everything you're looking for- the
iconic fastback styling with Shelby inspired looks, a
465-horsepower 408 stroker backed by a 5-speed, factory air
conditioning, and a very well executed restoration. It's the kind
of Mustang that turns heads, performs as good as it looks, and is a
blast to drive.
EXTERIOR: The fastback body design is one of the best of all time,
and this one has been tastefully enhanced with Shelby inspired
upgrades. It features the steel reinforced scooped hood, upper and
lower quarter panel scoops, and the Shelby style dovetail trunk lid
with matching end caps. The body is exceptionally clean and
straight, the restorer claims it is all original metal with only 2
small rust spots in the doors that were cut out and replaced with
metal. The panels fit very nicely, and it's finished in a smooth,
glossy red paint. The Shelby over the top stripes run from the
bottom of the front valance, over the top and end at the bottom of
the rear valance, complemented by matching side stripes and Cobra
emblems. The windshield has been replaced, along with the
weatherstrips and nearly all of the chrome and trim. Up front is a
custom grille with inboard fog lamps and out back, the Shelby tail
panel features Shelby style taillights and a Cobra gas cap. It's
sitting on a set of 17-inch U.S. Mag wheels wrapped in Nitto
performance tires, giving it an aggressive stance to match its
performance.
INTERIOR: It is very well presented with a fresh, sporty
appearance. New carpet covers the floor, and my favorite part is
the Hurst 5-speed shifter sticking up through the hump. The bucket
seats have been recushioned and upholstered, and in back it
features the desirable factory optional fold down rear seat, which
is in excellent condition. The door panels and armrests have been
replaced. The dash area is looking real sharp, featuring a factory
tachometer along with the factory air conditioning controls and
vents. A RetroSound stereo powers kick panel speakers while
maintaining a classic appearance. It's also equipped with a great
looking deluxe steering wheel and an upgraded headliner. Overall,
it's a very tidy interior.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This engine bay is built to impress! It starts
with a 351 Windsor roller block that's been professionally stroked
to 408 cubic inches using an Eagle balanced rotating assembly with
steel I-beam rods, forged Mahle pistons, and Comp cam. Topped with
an Edelbrock intake, Brawler dual feed carb with electric choke,
and MSD ignition along with a set of coated headers. It was dyno
tested at an impressive 465 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque, and
the dyno sheet is included. It's dressed with Ford Racing valve
covers and matching air cleaner. Up front, billet brackets and
pulleys are paired with a polished Tough Stuff alternator and
polished A/C compressor. It features modern power steering and
power brakes. Keeping it cool is a Champion aluminum radiator with
an electric fan and overflow bottle. A chrome Monte Carlo bar helps
reduce body flex, and the engine compartment is clean, neatly
detailed, and painted black.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and in the jamb, everything
is painted the same slick red as the exterior. Inside, the metal is
very dry, clean, and solid, finished with a neatly applied spatter
paint. Since this Mustang is equipped with the desirable fold down
rear seat, it also has the factory access door between the trunk
and passenger compartment.
UNDERSIDE: It is clean, solid, and built to perform. It retains its
original rust free floors and frame rails. The steering and
suspension have been rebuilt, featuring a Flaming River rack and
pinion steering system up front. In back, it has CalTracs tubular
traction bars to help put the power to the pavement. The brake
system has been rebuilt with front disc brakes, and the emergency
brake is hooked up and functioning. A fat dual exhaust with
Flowmaster mufflers exits through the rear valance for the perfect
muscle car sound. The fuel tank has been replaced. Looking up at
the engine, everything is clean and tidy, including a high torque
starter. Power is sent through a Tremec T5 5-speed manual
transmission with a McLeod hydraulic clutch and pressure plate. Out
back is a Ford 9-inch rear end with 4.10 posi gears and new axle
bearings, making this Mustang as capable underneath as it is on
top.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: Can you think of a reason why this isn't the right
Mustang for you? It has the looks, the performance, the sound, the
comfort of air conditioning, and it's been restored to a very high
standard. Don't let this one get away-contact us today!
