1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS For Sale This 1966 Chevrolet
Chevelle SS396 Sport Coupe underwent a complete rotisserie
restoration in 2024, finished in metallic blue over a black
interior. The VIN and cowl tag confirm it left Chevrolet's Kansas
City plant as a genuine SS396 Sport Coupe, body by Fisher, and the
car shows just 125 miles since the restoration was completed, all
of them on the current fuel system.Power comes from a 396 big block
built with a Comp Cam and 4-bolt main construction, rated at 425
horsepower (the engine is not numbers-matching), paired with a
rebuilt Turbo 350 automatic. Fuel delivery has been updated to
FiTech fuel injection; with roughly 125 miles on the system, the
consignor notes it may benefit from some additional fine-tuning as
it settles in. Spent gases exit through stainless steel long tube
headers, MSD ignition handles spark, and the rear end runs 3.73
gears. The engine bay itself was fully chromed, right down to the
oil pan, matching the mechanical work with the same level of
finish.Chassis upgrades follow the same modern-underneath approach:
Hotchkiss suspension up front, QA1 in the rear, and Wilwood
four-wheel disc brakes for stopping power well beyond what this car
left the factory with. Inside, the black cabin was refreshed with
new carpet, door cards, headliner, gauges, and rear seat skins,
while the front bucket seats are original to the car and remain in
excellent condition. Sound deadening was added throughout for a
more finished, quieter ride than these typically offer.1966 marked
the first year the SS396 stood on its own as a full Chevelle series
rather than the limited-run Z16 option that preceded it in 1965,
giving Chevrolet's mid-size muscle car its own dedicated identity.
This Sport Coupe carries that lineage forward as a modern restomod:
documented factory SS396 origins underneath a drivetrain,
suspension, and brake package built for how these cars actually get
driven today.NFI Empire specializes in classic, exotic, modified,
