1981 Pontiac Firebird For SaleThis 1981 Pontiac Firebird closes out
the second-generation body style in red over black, showing 40,000
believed-original miles. It's a genuine one-owner car, having
stayed with the same owner since it was purchased as a first car
during high school, the kind of unbroken ownership history that's
hard to find on a car pushing its fifth decade.Power comes from the
factory 3.8-liter (231 cubic inch) Buick-built V6, the standard
engine offered across the Firebird and Esprit lines in 1981 and
rated at 110 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque from the factory.
It's backed by the TH200 three-speed automatic, the transmission GM
commonly ran behind V6-powered F-bodies of that era.The car was
ordered new with Pontiac's factory red wheels, a color-keyed option
that plays directly off its red-over-black combination. It's also
been thoroughly undercoated and remains notably clean underneath, a
detail that carries real weight on a car from an era when rust
claimed far more Firebirds than mileage ever did. Inside, the
original setup has been updated with a modern radio styled to read
as period-correct, giving the cabin usable audio without looking
out of place against the rest of the factory interior.1981 marked
the final year of an 11-year run for the second-generation Firebird
before Pontiac moved to the redesigned, fuel-injected third
generation for 1982. Six-cylinder cars were the minority that year,
with total V6 production across the Firebird, Esprit, and Formula
lines reported at just over 23,000 units against total Firebird
output well north of 70,000. Combined with its mileage and
one-owner history, this car is a straightforward survivor rather
than a restoration, low-key by Firebird standards but honestly
presented for exactly what it is.NFI Empire specializes in classic,
