No Reserve Classics is honored to present what we believe to be one
of the most historically significant Ford GTs ever offered for
private ownership. PB1-1 represents a once-in-a-generation
opportunity to acquire an irreplaceable piece of Ford Performance
history, complete with exceptional provenance, continuous ownership
history, and an archive that documents the rebirth of one of
America's greatest performance icons. Vehicles of this significance
are rarely available, and once placed into a major collection, may
never again be publicly offered.
PB1-1 is far more than an early Ford GT-it is one of the most
historically significant vehicles ever produced by Ford
Performance. As the very first vehicle in Ford's PB1
(Production-Representative Build Phase 1) program, this prototype
marked the beginning of the production validation process that
ultimately led to customer deliveries of the 2005 Ford GT. Built to
verify Ford's manufacturing procedures while maintaining
production-level specifications, PB1-1 became one of only two Ford
GTs selected to travel to Europe for final high-speed validation
testing. Powered by Ford's legendary 5.4L supercharged DOHC V8
paired with a Ricardo 6-speed manual transaxle, this prototype
achieved a certified 209.1 MPH during testing at Italy's famed
Nard Ring, validating Ford's performance claims before the first
production GT ever reached customers. Equipped with factory
development cooling air foils, SVT track alignment, a full roll
cage, dual Sparco 5-point harnesses, and serving as the Development
Hoosier R6 Tire Program vehicle, PB1-1 remains one of the most
important engineering vehicles in Ford GT history.
Finished in its instantly recognizable yellow exterior, PB1-1
retains the unique appearance it carried throughout Ford's European
validation program. While outwardly resembling a production Ford
GT, the car features factory prototype development components and
testing equipment used during sustained high-speed evaluation at
Nard. Every aspect of the vehicle reflects its engineering
purpose, from its aerodynamic development cooling air foils to its
track-prepared stance. As one of only two Ford GTs chosen for
European testing, this prototype represents the exact configuration
Ford engineers relied upon to prove the capabilities of the modern
GT before production commenced.
Inside, PB1-1 balances production Ford GT design with functional
engineering equipment installed specifically for testing and
validation. The cockpit features factory GT seating complemented by
a professionally integrated roll cage and dual Sparco 5-point
racing harnesses used during high-speed development. The interior
remains remarkably preserved and serves as a rare glimpse into
Ford's Special Vehicle Team development program, showcasing the
equipment and configuration utilized while validating one of
America's greatest modern supercars.
Unlike nearly every other development prototype from the era, PB1-1
survived Ford's testing program and has remained remarkably intact
with continuous ownership history and extraordinary documentation.
Following Ford's invitation-only sale of select development
vehicles, the car was acquired directly from Ford Motor Company by
a longtime Ford enthusiast, who meticulously preserved both the
vehicle and its extensive historical archive. Included is what is
believed to be one of the most comprehensive Ford GT documentation
collections in existence, consisting of the original Ford SVT
Equipment Sale Agreement, engineering documentation, Target 200
test media, original Nard testing documents, display boards,
historical photographs, original CDs, posters, event materials, and
correspondence documenting PB1-1's pivotal role in the rebirth of
the Ford GT. Featured during the European Ford GT press launch and
documented as a BBC Top Gear Magazine test vehicle in July 2004,
this prototype represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to
acquire an irreplaceable piece of Ford Performance history.
