Melanson Motors is proud to offer this custom built 1940 Ford
Pickup Street Rod. This truck was a multi-year build with custom
touches everywhere you look. This street rod was featured in
Maritime Rod and Custom Magazine and is known as "Phoenix". The
steel body started as a 1946 Mercury truck because the cab is the
same from 1940-1946. The roof was chopped 3" and the rain gutters
smoothed. A 2 piece steel 1940 hood was purchased, fabricated and
fitted into a one piece hood. The running boards were shortened 4".
The box sides, tailgate and roll pan were all custom fabricated.
This truck is an excellent driver. It features a reliable,
performance built 357ci engine mated to a 700r4 automatic
transmission. The engine was recently built by Armstrong Motors and
dyno'ed at 420hp. This Ford has disc brakes on the front and drums
on the rear. The rear end has 3.73 gears with custom drop leaf
springs. The frame has been painted black front to back. The
undercarriage is tidy and detailed throughout. A fuel cell sits at
the rear of the truck. This truck rides on staggered 15" and 14"
Cragar Classic wheels.
The paint is R&M Acrylic Viper Red and Black and is excellent.
The interior is also very nice! It features a custom stitched
leather bench seat with V8 embroidered in the center. The door
panels match the outside of the truck with 2 tone red and black.
The truck also has power windows and an S10 tilt steering column.
The dash features Autometer gauges and a Kenwood stereo deck.
A great driving street rod built with high quality components
throughout!
