This 1966 Corvette roadster has a story to tell. The Stingray was
featured in an episode of Hagerty's 'Barn Find Hunters', a long
running TV show hosted by Tom Cotter. Tom and his crew brought this
Corvette barn-find back to life. The Stingray was not cosmetically
restored, but many of the mechanicals have been gone through. This
is a 'Project Car' that deserves your consideration.
Modified Solid Fiberglass Body-
The roadster's fiberglass body is in overall good condition The
stock appearance has been slightly modified in ways that were
common back in the day. In the 1960s, Zora Duntov campaigned
factory sponsored Corvettes against Ford's Cobra in the Trans-AM
Racing Series. The wheel openings of this Ruby Red Stingray have
been modified with flares to match the appearance of those Corvette
Grand Sport race cars. A raised hood similar to a '427 Stinger
Hood' has also been installed. This Corvette sits on period-correct
15" American Racing alloy wheels. The interior is basically intact,
but needs TLC. The black leather upholstery is worn, but the dash,
gauges, console and other elements are all intact. A rare
fiberglass hardtop is fitted to the roadster. There is also a
manual soft top folded in the bonnet.
Built 327ci Small Block with 4-Speed-
Under the hood, the 327ci small-block is equipped with an single
plane aluminum intake, Holley double-pumper carb, alloy valve
covers, flex fan and tube headers to a side-pipe exhaust. The motor
is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission w/Hurst shifter. The
chassis features manual steering, manual 4-wheel disc brakes, coil
spring front suspension and transverse spring rear suspension.
This '66 Corvette Stingray will need attention, but it is a legend
in the making.
