For Sale: 1953 Jaguar Mark VII in Hingham, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

Zoom Classic Cars presents this very unique 1953 Jaguar Mark VII Saloon Rat Rod - Detroit Diesel Powered One-of-One Creation. There are restored Jaguars... there are hot rods... and then there's this. Offered for sale is a truly unforgettable 1953 Jaguar Mark VII Saloon that began life as one of Britain's most prestigious luxury automobiles before being transformed into an outrageous, conversation-starting Rat Rod by a talented enthusiast with a wicked sense of humor and an appreciation for doing things differently. When Jaguar introduced the Mark VII in 1950, it was the company's flagship luxury saloon. Combining elegant styling, impressive performance, and handcrafted appointments, it was favored by successful businessmen, government officials, and discerning motorists who wanted a refined alternative to the larger luxury marques of the day. It even found success in international rally competition, proving that sophistication and performance could coexist. Fast forward more than 70 years, and this Jaguar has traded its gentleman's tuxedo for combat boots. Originally discovered as a rust-free barn find, the car has been reimagined around a military surplus crate 323CI Detroit Diesel two-stroke engine with fewer than 500 miles since the build was completed. Equipped with its signature Roots-style blower, governed throttle, manual electric fuel shutoff, and gear-driven fuel pump, this legendary diesel fires up easily every time and settles into the unmistakable soundtrack of military equipment or heavy construction machinery. It's impossible to hear it without smiling-or watching everyone around you smile. Power is transferred through a GM bellhousing to a 5-speed manual transmission sourced from a Chevrolet S-10 pickup before making its way to a dependable Ford 8-inch rear axle carrying 2.75:1 gears. The result is a surprisingly enjoyable driver that starts easily, shifts smoothly, and is guaranteed to attract attention everywhere it goes. Finished in flat black including bumpers, the body proudly retains its original patina trim, perfectly capturing the authentic Rat Rod attitude. The body, floors, trunk, and X-frame undercarriage are exceptionally solid and rust-free, providing an excellent foundation for this creative build. The interior follows the same philosophy-simple, functional, and full of character. Up front are custom vinyl bucket seats, while the original rear seat has been professionally reupholstered. There is intentionally no carpeting, no headliner, and no radio. Instead, you'll find a clean installation of new Omega Kustom Instruments including a digital odometer, fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and temperature gauges. A manual sunroof, functioning windshield wipers, and LED front turn signals with matching rear turn signals and brake lights round out the equipment. The clean trunk compartment houses a beautifully fabricated custom aluminum fuel tank complete with fuel fillers on both sides, while underneath you'll find Jaguar's distinctive X-frame chassis with adjustable torsion bars up front and rear dampers helping tame the ride. Car rides on newer Optimo tires mounted on custom aluminum wheels. This isn't a trailer queen pretending to be something it's not. It's a well-executed mechanical marvel that somehow works remarkably well. It can be enjoyed exactly as it sits-which is probably the point-or taken even further with modern conveniences if you absolutely must... but honestly, why would you? If you've spent years attending car shows saying, "I've seen everything," this Jaguar is here to prove you wrong. It attracts crowds and starts conversations wherever it goes. It isn't for someone looking to blend in-it was built for someone who enjoys standing out. If you're searching for one of the most unique Jaguars you'll ever encounter, or simply want the loudest British luxury sedan this side of a military base, this may be the perfect addition to your collection. Starts easily, runs strong, shifts smoothly, and sounds unlike anything else at your local cruise night. If you're looking for ordinary, keep scrolling. If you're looking for unforgettable, you've found it. Call Jeff for additional information or to schedule a viewing. Stored in MA. Vehicle is being sold with a Bill of Sale and accompanying local documentation to pursue a Title if you so choose. Thanks for Looking!
