Exterior

The Torch Red exterior is in excellent condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. Both doors open and shut nicely. The C7 Z06 style wheels are in great condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires have plenty of tread left and are correctly sized 245/45R17 in the front and 275/40R18 in the rear. This Corvette has always been stored indoors and as one can see in the many photos of the underside this C5 is very clean underneath.

Interior

The Black Leather interior of the Corvette is in fantastic condition. The sport seats look great with no rips or split seams. There is just a tiny area of wear in the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in and out. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The carpet is also in excellent condition with no stains, rips, or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The factory radio works and sounds great; most importantly the dash has never been cut or modified for an installation. Even the climate control display is still bright and not dim like most C5s. The dash and console are in great shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burn marks and no aroma of cigarettes.

Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Corvette has received throughout its life.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in excellent mechanical condition. The LS1 engine starts right away every time. The car drives magnificently and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds, it drives just as well as you would expect from a well maintained sports car with very low mileage. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well throughout the power band. The car runs cool and does not overheat. This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the photos.

The head-up display works as do the exterior lights, interior lights, dash lights, fog lights, horn, wipers, and indicators. Please note in the video that all of the warning lights work properly. They light up when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is started. There are no "check engine" or other warning lights that stay on. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds. The a/c itself works and blows cold. All of the gauges work. The digital displays on the radio and climate control are not dim and none of the elements are burned out, which is a common problem on C5 Corvettes. The car has a very healthy exhaust note as one can hear in the video with a Corsa exhaust. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top out on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1999 Corvette looks fantastic and is in excellent condition. The beautiful original color combination, excellent condition, and the very low original mileage make this C5 especially important and very hard to duplicate. In my opinion and based on our experience the fifth generation C5 Corvettes from 1997-2004 are rising in value and are becoming classics. This is especially true for premium and low mileage examples like this C5. The value of these cars is going up and they are solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
