Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is excited to offer this beautifully
restored 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1, a documented H-code example of
one of Ford's most iconic muscle cars. Backed by its Marti Report,
this genuine Mach 1 was built at Ford's Metuchen, New Jersey
assembly plant on October 16, 1969, four days ahead of schedule.
Finished in its factory Red paint over a Black Knit Vinyl Mach 1
bucket seat interior, this Mustang combines documented
authenticity, timeless styling, and the dependable performance of
Ford's legendary 351 Windsor V8. Having been enjoyed by its current
owner for the past five years, this Mach 1 has been carefully
maintained and recently benefited from extensive engine work,
making it an outstanding example that's ready to be driven and
appreciated.
Introduced as the premium performance Mustang for 1970, the Mach 1
perfectly blended aggressive styling with everyday drivability,
quickly becoming one of the most recognizable muscle cars of the
era. This example proudly wears its factory-correct Red finish
accented by the signature black hood treatment, Mach 1 lower body
graphics, and rear window louvers that enhance its unmistakable
fastback profile. Chrome bumpers, Magnum 500-style wheels wrapped
in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised white-letter tires, and a confident
stance complete the classic appearance, while the restored
undercarriage reflects the quality and attention to detail that
went into the build.
Power comes from the factory H-code 351 cubic-inch Windsor 2-barrel
V8, an engine celebrated for its durability, smooth power delivery,
and abundant low-end torque. During the current owner's five-year
ownership, the engine received a comprehensive top-end rebuild
approximately 100 miles ago, including rebuilt cylinder heads, new
head gaskets, refreshed valves, rocker arms, and related valvetrain
components. The engine bay maintains a factory-inspired appearance
with the correct-style blue engine finish, factory air cleaner
assembly, and factory-style exhaust manifolds. Power is delivered
through the factory FMX SelectShift automatic transmission and a
3.00 conventional rear axle, creating a comfortable highway cruiser
with the unmistakable sound of classic American V8 performance
through its dual exhaust. Factory power steering and power front
disc brakes make this Mach 1 equally enjoyable around town or on
long weekend drives.
Inside, the Black Knit Vinyl Mach 1 bucket seat interior remains
true to its factory configuration, offering the perfect complement
to the vibrant exterior. The cabin features woodgrain trim across
the dashboard and center console, a desirable rim-blow steering
wheel, factory instrumentation, and a center console-mounted
automatic shifter that reinforces the Mach 1's sporty character.
The interior is clean, inviting, and retains the unmistakable
atmosphere that made these Mustangs favorites among enthusiasts
when new and continues to do so today.
The included Marti Report documents this Mustang's authenticity and
factory equipment, confirming it was ordered through Washington DSO
17 by Sheehy Ford Inc. of Marlow Heights, Maryland. It was built on
October 16, 1969, ahead of its scheduled production date, and
equipped from the factory with the 351 Windsor V8, FMX SelectShift
automatic transmission, 3.00 conventional rear axle, power
steering, power front disc brakes, black hood stripe, E70x14 belted
white sidewall tires, and AM radio. The report also notes this Mach
1 is one of just 5,400 finished in this paint color, one of 4,298
produced with this paint and trim combination, one of 15,023 built
with this engine and transmission combination, and one of only
1,623 ordered through the Washington DSO.
Whether you're looking for a documented Mach 1 to add to a
collection or simply want to own one of the most iconic muscle cars
Ford ever produced, this 1970 Mustang offers the ideal blend of
authenticity, fresh mechanical investment, and timeless style. With
its documented pedigree, recent top-end engine rebuild, desirable
factory options, and unmistakable Mach 1 presence, this Mustang is
ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
