INTRODUCTION: This one is special for many reasons. It's
exceptionally well equipped with a 427, 4-speed, posi, factory air,
in a convertible. Add power steering, power brakes, power windows,
and the one year only side exhaust, and you have one of the most
desirable Corvettes of its era. It's been treated to a body off
frame restoration, and the #s and codes are correct.
EXTERIOR: The 1969 Corvette's body features aggressive yet flowing
lines that have made it an American sports car icon. This one is in
great condition with straight, clean fiberglass, and a repaint in
its original Can-Am White, a color I don't see often and it has a
high gloss shine. The chrome front and rear bumpers appear to have
been replaced, along with the emblems and hood trim, giving the car
a crisp, fresh appearance. As a 427-powered Corvette, it features
the correct raised hood, complemented by the optional chrome
inserts in the front fender louvers. The mirrors, door handles,
weatherstrips, and windshield have all been replaced, adding to the
car's exceptional presentation. It also features the optional
luggage rack and the correct antenna. One of this Corvette's
biggest highlights is its factory side exhaust. 1969 was the only
year of the C3 Corvette to offer this iconic feature from the
factory, and these side pipes look brand new. Completing the look
are 15x8 Corvette Rally wheels wearing all new bright trim rings
and center caps, wrapped in a like new set of BFGoodrich radial
tires. The black convertible top is in excellent condition, making
this Corvette every bit as impressive with the top up as it is
down.
INTERIOR: It has been beautifully restored and presents really
well. It features fresh carpet from front to back, while the seats
have been rebuilt with new cushions and upholstered in glove soft
leather. The door panels, dash pad, sun visors, and rearview mirror
have all been replaced. The center console is new as well,
including the heater control panel, and it retains the correct
4-speed shifter with the proper 427 callout emblem. Factory options
include power windows, an AM/FM radio, and the desirable
tilt-telescopic steering column, making this Corvette as
comfortable as it is exciting to drive.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is every bit as impressive as the rest of
the car. Filling the bay is the legendary 427 big block featuring
the highly sought after 512 casting. The engine numbers match the
car, although it may have been restamped. It is equipped with
factory power steering, power brakes, and factory air conditioning,
which has been serviced and is operating properly. The engine is
dressed correctly with the proper aluminum intake manifold,
reproduction chrome valve covers, matching chrome air cleaner, and
the correct ignition shielding. The compartment has been restored
with great attention to detail, featuring many fresh components
including the power brake booster, master cylinder, alternator,
vacuum actuators for the headlight and wiper doors, and a fresh,
properly detailed cooling system. Even the reproduction GM tower
clamps are in place, giving the engine bay an authentic, factory
correct appearance.
UNDERSIDE: The body-off-frame restoration is just as impressive
underneath. The chassis is clean and refinished in a smooth
semi-gloss black, while the fiberglass floors and spare tire
carrier are intact and painted satin black. The front and rear
independent suspension has been restored, and the steering system
has been rebuilt as well. It features four wheel disc brakes with
replaced brake lines, and the emergency brake assembly is properly
connected. Looking up at the drivetrain, the engine is clean and
correctly finished in Chevy Orange, upgraded with a high torque
starter for dependable cranking. Behind it is the VIN # matching
M20 Muncie 4-speed transmission, and out back is the original,
correctly dated and coded 3.08 heavy-duty positraction rear end.
Overall, it's obvious this Corvette received a meticulous,
comprehensive restoration from top to bottom.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: Not all 1969 Corvettes are created equal, and this one
proves it! Its rare combination of desirable options, correct
numbers and codes, one year only side exhaust, and body off frame
restoration make it a truly special example.
