1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible
Factory V-Code 455 • Muncie M20 4-Speed • 1 of Only 66 Produced
Asking Price: $42,500 OBO
Offered for sale is a genuine 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible originally built with the highly desirable V-code 455 Rocket V8 and Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission.
According to published Oldsmobile production figures, only 66 Cutlass Supreme Convertibles were produced with the factory L75 455 V-code engine and M20 4-speed manual transmission for the 1972 model year.
This car has its VIN tag and cowl tag intact, clean title in hand, and extensive restoration receipts. It is not a numbers-matching car and does not have a build sheet. The original engine is no longer with the car.
It is currently powered by a professionally built Oldsmobile 455 and has been upgraded to be driven and enjoyed.

ENGINE & PERFORMANCE
The car is powered by a built Oldsmobile 455 featuring aluminum heads, aluminum intake, Comp XE274H cam, roller rockers, Holley Sniper EFI, performance ignition, and numerous new engine components.
The engine starts, runs, and delivers the strong torque Oldsmobile 455s are known for.
The Holley Sniper EFI is installed and operational. It would benefit from a final professional street or dyno tune to fully optimize drivability and performance.
TRANSMISSION & DRIVETRAIN
The car has a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission paired with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter.
Drivetrain work includes:
• Muncie M20 4-speed
• Hurst shifter
• New clutch
• New flywheel
• Bellhousing
• Rebuilt clutch linkage
• New driveshaft
• Detroit Truetrac limited-slip differential
• 3.42 rear gears
• Rear differential rebuild
SUSPENSION & BRAKES
Much of the suspension, steering, and braking system has been rebuilt or replaced, including front suspension components, steering components, rotors, calipers, brake hoses, wheel bearings, power steering components, and lowering springs.
EXTERIOR
The car is finished in its original factory color, Flame Orange Metallic, Code 65.
The paint presents well with a nice shine and shows well as a driver-quality finish. It is not a concours paint job and does have normal minor imperfections expected from a classic car that is driven and enjoyed.
The black power convertible top is newer and operates properly. The top frame and side windows could benefit from final adjustment for a perfect fit.
INTERIOR
The car has a black bench seat interior with wood-grain dash trim.
Recent interior updates include:
• New carpet
• New seat covers
• Resotred dash pad
• Restored gauge components
The interior is clean and presentable but still needs a few finishing pieces, including the radio, heater control knobs, and rear armrest ashtray inserts.
DOCUMENTATION & INCLUDED PARTS
Included with the car:
• Clean title
• VIN tag intact
• Cowl tag intact
• Extensive receipts documenting years of restoration and upgrades
• Boxes of original used Cutlass parts removed during the build
The included parts are original used Cutlass parts, not new reproduction parts, and may be useful for someone wanting to finish, preserve, or return certain parts of the car closer to stock.
HONEST DESCRIPTION
This is not a numbers-matching concours restoration. It is a genuine factory V-code 455 / 4-speed Cutlass Supreme Convertible that has been extensively rebuilt and upgraded for street use while preserving a very rare factory configuration.
The car starts, runs, drives, and shifts well. It can be enjoyed as-is while the next owner completes the remaining cosmetic and detail items if desired.
WHY THIS CAR IS SPECIAL
The factory V-code 455, M20 4-speed manual transmission, and convertible body combination makes this one of the most desirable 1972 Cutlass Supreme configurations.
With only 66 produced, these cars rarely come up for sale. This car offers the opportunity to own a very rare Oldsmobile convertible with a built 455, Holley Sniper EFI, Detroit Truetrac rear differential, Muncie 4-speed, and extensive documented investment.
Serious inquiries only.
Additional photos, cold-start video, driving video, undercarriage photos, and receipts are available upon request.
REMAINING ITEMS (NOT AN ALL-INCLUSIVE LIST)
I believe in representing the car honestly. The following list highlights the most notable remaining items but is not intended to be an exhaustive or all-inclusive list. As with any 54-year-old collector vehicle, buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle in person or have it professionally inspected prior to purchase.
• Holley Sniper EFI is installed and operational but would benefit from a final professional street or dyno tune to optimize drivability and performance.
• Windshield wiper motor/system needs to be completed.
• Coolant overflow bottle needs to be installed.
• Emergency brake system needs to be completed (cables included).
• Heater ductwork is not currently installed.
• Radio needs to be installed.
• Heater control knobs need to be installed.
• Rear armrest ashtray inserts need to be installed.
• Convertible top frame and side windows could benefit from final adjustment for optimal fit.
These items are primarily finishing and detail work rather than major drivetrain or structural issues. The car starts, runs, drives, and shifts well and can be enjoyed as it sits.
The vehicle is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, with no warranty expressed or implied due to its age.
