"The year 1949 marked a turning point in the automotive world, and
at the heart of this revolution was the Chevrolet truck, a vehicle
that would become an emblem of American resilience and innovation.
Born from the postwar era's industrial boom, this Chevrolet truck
was not just a means of transportation; it was a testament to the
nation's burgeoning love affair with the pickup truck. With its
sturdy design and reliable performance, the 1949 Chevrolet truck
emerged as a symbol of the hardworking American spirit."

For consignment, a 1949 Chevrolet 3100 ton pickup truck showing
10,855 miles, but the true miles are unknown. According to the
detailed tome, 1949 Chevrolet Engineering Features, "1949 Chevrolet
trucks are no longer called Thriftmaster and Loadmaster, but are
identified by the number of the series to which they belong, (3100,
3600, 3800, 4100, etc.)" More than 20 pages identify all the
changes and new features of the '49.
Exterior
Looking period authentic in its Brewster Green coat, this truck's
frame off restoration about 20 years ago included two stage paint,
augmented by the five bar chrome grille up front and large
Chevrolet nameplate on the nose. A black running board forms a step
on the bridge between the flared fenders under which body colored
15-inch wheels wear a red lettered hubcap and yellow pinstripe
around the rim. In classic font, Chevrolet is emphasized on the
tailgate with white paint while reverse lights have been added to
augment the minimal tail lights externally perched on the
outside. It's a five window cab and the rear window overlooks an oak
lined bed with green rails and in very nice condition.
Imperfections include scratches, scuffs, chips, edge wear, orange
peel, general inclusions, chips on top of the tailgate, and a
bubbled rear cab panel.
Interior
A brown panel under the door hardware rests in a gray colored base,
the saddle door pulls are a nice touch, and both doors present
cleanly with some scuffs on the passenger side. That brown vinyl is
extended to the bench seat which is in great shape and rests behind
the standard 3 spoke steering wheel, showing some welcome patina
and fronting a simple dash with two main gauges of old, and two
added gauges in the center that include oil pressure and voltage. A
clean, ribbed pattern is below and bleeds over to the glove box,
creating an integrated design. Black carpet is below and brown
vinyl covers the ceiling and along with the visors, all are in nice
shape.
Drivetrain
A clean engine bay houses the 216.5ci inline six cylinder rated at
90 horsepower and getting gas from a 1-barrel carburetor. A 3-speed
manual is on the tree and routes power to 4.11 gears in back. The
truck runs on a 12 volt system.
Undercarriage
Simple, clean and dry is how we find the underbelly of the truck,
with a single exhaust through a stock style muffler that exits
behind the rear bumper. Drum brakes are on all four wheels and leaf
springs are utilized at both ends of this classic truck.
Drive-Ability

of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be
