The Magnum name plate was used by Dodge on various vehicles but in
this case we are referring to the Magnum produced between 1978 and
1979. These were the last vehicles to use the long running Chrysler
B platform and the appearance was somewhat a rounded off Charger.
They wanted a car that would be eligible for NASCAR and more
aerodynamic which they were not getting with the Charger. This kept
Richard Petty in a Mopar but it would be short lived following a
mid season switch to Chevrolet. This 1978 is the XE trim level and
mostly stock. It is painted in an off White color paired with the
vinyl Landau top with opera windows and optional removable sun roof
T tops. These cars featured a slope nose with 4 rectangular
headlights that are mounted behind a clear retractable cover. The
car rides on its original 15 inch wheels and hubcaps with Super
Sport Futura GLS tires.
These cars had multiple engine options available to order and this
one features its original 360ci 4 barrel motor. It has been totally
rebuilt and runs great. The car came fully loaded with all options
including power brakes, power steering and air conditioning. Paired
with the motor is a 3 speed A727 automatic transmission that shifts
smoothly. The suspension is Chrysler's original set up which
included standard adjustable, longitudinal torsion bars, lower
trailing links, and front/rear anti-sway bars.
These cars are packed with all the greatest features available for
their age and on the inside the car features Tan upholstery. It is
all in good condition and the power adjustable high back buckets
are very comfortable and have 3 point retractable belts. Between
the seats sits the center console with storage and shifter.
Throughout the interior you will find the stock woodgrain trim. The
dash pad is in good condition and the dash has been kept mostly
stock with original gauges and controls. Under previous ownership
an aftermarket Kenwood AM/FM/CD player was added. In addition to
power seats the car came with power windows and even cruise
control! The trunk is nicely carpeted and houses the spare as well
as storage covers for the top pieces.
This neat car cruises around comfortably and just glides down the
road. It comes with a clear Texas title.
