"Ruthless performance notwithstanding, I usually tire of the
Corvette quickly, instead yearning for a more polished implement
like a Porsche Cayman. Sure, I enjoyed the urgent, chest resonating
roar from the new exhaust, but the gains in refinement, a
remarkably upscale stitched leather dash; a friendlier, lighter
effort shifter; and dramatically improved steering feel are far
more significant." Car and Driver, Sept. 2007
For consignment, a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT coupe with a title
verified 24,214 actual miles. Car and Driver also wrote, "This '08
is an evolutionary step forward from the '07. Pretty hard to feel
the increased horsepower and torque; both cars move on the back
roads. The '08's steering, however, feels measurably better: No
twitchiness, and it's light but highly communicative". This example
has the Z51 performance package in addition to the 3LT trim
level.
Exterior
This integrated bumper, sealed headlights, no audacious chrome just
pure performance oriented sculpted exterior is bathed in a
beautiful Victory Red with a tinted, translucent targa top that
gives the car a fighter jet canopy profile, bisected by the red
C-pillar that gives way to the sloping and tinted rear window.
18-inch five spoked wheels in front and 19's in the rear, all carry
low profile, ZR rated tires with gaping gaps to view the big disc
brakes. Out back, it's the iconic quad tail lights positioned over
the center exit quad exhaust tips within a black valance that holds
the reverse lights. Imperfections are minimal with some inclusions
on the hood, a scuff on a fender, and a small gash in the rim along
with some curb rash.
Interior
Ebony dominated the interior palette beginning with the smooth door
panels, both as clean as could be. The seats are also in excellent
shape, black leather with robust side bolstering and tall
headrests, each with memory settings and heat, part of the 3LT
package. A meaty leather wrapped steering wheel fronts an
attractive instrument cluster with bright red needles while the
center stack houses an interactive screen, AM/FM/CD player with
MP3, Nav, and backup camera, and a simple A/C panel, all backed by
a carbon fiber faceplate. This cascades onto the center console
that houses the shifter, favored to the driver's side, and wearing
a black boot. Charcoal carpet floods the floors with Corvette
branded mats, while the cargo area is cloaked in carpet and
presents in excellent condition.
Drivetrain
Under the front flipping hood, is a 6.2 liter LS3 eight cylinder
that presents in showroom condition with the requisite red writing
on the covers. It's mated to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual
transmission and together the components generate 430 horsepower,
routed to the limited slip rear axle with 3.42 gears. An SLP
Blackwing cold air intake is noted.
Undercarriage
Clean conditions prevail underneath where the dual exhaust features
a dual mode option initiated with a toggle in the center console.
Suspension includes the track tuned Z51 package with large
components within the complex configuration of A-arms, transverse
composite mono leaf springs, tube shock absorbers and anti-roll
bars. Naturally, power disc brakes are on all four wheels.
Drive-Ability
The comfortable cabin feels like a well appointed race car, because
essentially that's what this sports car represents! The LS3 starts
up with authority and emits a healthy growl. The car handles,
pulls, and stops with perfection and in this low mileage example,
all functions operate as they should and we're satisfied to put
this one under the lights for others to fall in love with it. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
Remember that dream you had about owning a C6 Corvette? Well, looks
like a nice one landed at the mall and it might be time to wake up.
This one checks all the boxes; great color, low mileage, Z51, and
not dorked with by previous owners! Don't hit the snooze button on
this one, it won't be here long.
