The Camaro has long been one of General Motors most popular sports
cars on the market. With its muscular bodylines, powerful
drivetrain options and nimble suspension, its no wonder these great
sports cars are so widely coveted. Even in factory spec, the Camaro
is a very capable machine, but for some enthusiasts that is not
enough. There is no better place to push a car to its limits than
your local drag strip and that is what this 1972 Chevrolet Camaro
was built to do. This Chevrolet Camaro, aptly named "Just For
Play", is a very well built example of these vintage drag cars. The
exterior of the Camaro is in very good condition for a purpose
built race car with the typical scratches and minor dings
associated with these race cars. The Blue metallic exterior of the
Camaro is nicely complimented by its eye-catching "Just For Play"
Livery and stickers throughout the car, factory chrome and
stainless trim, period correct 3-piece rear spoiler and a set of
polished Cragar wheels wrapped in Hoosier drag slick tires. The
Camaro's interior features a single bucket seat, Autogage
instrumentation, B&M ratchet shifter, Biondo Racing RPM-2 shift
box and a well built 8-point roll cage. Powering this great drag
car is a very well built small-block 355 cubic inch V8 backed by a
Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission. The 355 cubic
inch V8 benefits from a number of upgrades including: aluminum
heads, Edelbrock Victor JR aluminum intake manifold, belt driven
fuel pump, MSD Pro-Billet distributor, MSD HVC II ignition coil,
DaVinci Super Series Holley 750cfm 4-barrel carburetor, and
electric water pump. Transferring the power from the well built 355
V8 and Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission is a 4-link equipped Ford
9" rear end fitted with 4.10:1 final drive gears. This potent
drivetrain combination tuned on E85, reportly, propelled this
Camaro to a quarter mile time in the mid-to-high 10 second range
and produced enough torque to pull the front tires off the ground.
If you are in the market for a turn-key ready vintage drag car that
is ready to hit the strip*, then you will want to take a very close
look at this awesome 1972 Chevrolet Camaro drag car.
