This custom 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is powered by a
6.0-liter all-aluminum LS V-8 engine rated at 400hp and paired with
a 6L80E automatic transmission. The drivetrain retains
GM-controlled fuel injection and is flex-fuel capable. A Ford
9-inch rear end with 3.70 gears, 31-spline axles and Positraction
transfers power to the rear wheels. The car began as a 1979 Trans
Am and received a 1970 Trans Am front clip during a restoration
completed in 2015. In 2018 an LS engine and 6L80E automatic
transmission were installed. The front suspension features tubular
components, tubular A-arms, QA1 double-adjustable shocks and
revised steering geometry. Additional chassis upgrades completed in
2025 included new subframe connectors, performance leaf springs and
bushings, body bushings, fuel lines and steering components.
Four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes with new brake lines were installed
in 2025.
